The generals may be a little absurd but Toph's dad was protecting Toph for a reason....The generals are stuborn. I agree but not everyone in the earth kingdom. Remember...the earth kingdom is full of REGULAR TOWNPEOPLE. Lets respect them, they didn't do anything.

The mighty Oak yeilds not to the wind, nor rain, but to the blight from within.

    Or,

Empires rot from within before falling apart.

Though this might count as speculation, wouldn't it be cool if Iroh bumped into him on the street or something?

    General: "Don't I know you?"

    Iroh: "Um, no..."

On another note, how General Sung ever advanced to that rank is a bit unbelievable. Funny though.

He was promoted by the "Superiors" cause he was a good motivational speaker.

some ppl just don't age well...he probably was more competent when he was younger, can't say for sure...maybe he was just the son of some great General...

Reminds me of this story I once read. It was about a soldier who gets promoted for really doing nothing and later he has to give a command but he doesnt know anything and ends up getting everyone killed.

The EK feels safe behind their walls, and this has weakend their skills as commanders and leaders, or as Patton once said, "Fixed fortifications are monuments to the stupidity of man." the people of the EK have grown dim to the outside world and what is really going on.
