"The Boy in the Iceburg" (Book 1: Chapter 1)- In the South Pole, there is a small village that struggles to survive. In this village, there is a novice waterbender named Katara, and her warrior brother Sokka. While fishing, they rescue a strange boy from an iceburg. This boy is named Aang. Soon, Sokka and Katara discover that Aang is an airbender, the first to be seen in many years. Katara tells Aang that the Air Nomad race has been gone for quite a while. Aang seems to have no recollection of the Fire Nation attacking the Air Temples, and the war that Katara says has been going on for 100 years. Aang also can't remember how he got into the iceburg. Katara then comes to the conclusion that Aang was in the iceburg for 100 years! After accidently setting off a Fire Navy flare, Aang and Katara race back to their village. Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation spots this flare, and now prepares for an attack on the village to get Aang, who he believes is the Avatar.

Bison Whistle - A Bison-shaped whistle bought by Aang for one copper piece in the episode "The Waterbending Scroll." The whistle creates a high-pitched sound that only animals can hear. The gang have used it many times to call Appa, and Aang even used it to call other animals in the episode "Tales of Ba Sing Se" when he created a new Zoo for the animals.

"The Blue Spirit" (Book 1: Chapter 13)- Sokka and Katara get too sick to travel, so Aang has to go out and find a cure for them. Soon enough, Aang is captured by Zhao and his Archers. Aang is then freed by a mysterious person in a blue mask. Who is this person, and why is he helping the Avatar?
