Omg, my life would be so complete if Katara had stayed in her little devolved state, and became this dark character. It would have been such good writing. On a kids show though, psh the writers would get slaughtered i'm sure. |

EXACTLY! Ahahahaha. I was about to scream. You all know you felt it, too. ADMIT IT! |

I have a question, if aang loved peace and was a vegetarian(like me ) why was everyone usually eating fish, would aang settle for nuts or something because I'm pretty sure you couldn't find too many soy plants or supplements in their world. |

Yea
I said to myself, "He mastered the Avatar State, had Ozai for the kill, and then die."

Yes, yes they could. Kids don't understand what's happening most of the time in this show. It's not hard to get away with something deep and meaningful. I'm sure, for instance, that they thought Azula was screaming solely because she wasn't going to be the Fire Lord. Or maybe just because she lost. It's very easy for things to pass them by. I'm sure they could've slipped blood bending in more. |
Yeah kids are pretty dumb. But the network would have never allowed because of all the angry, over-bearing PTA mothers out there.

Actually I just thought he was gonna die or something...or have his bending be taken away as well. I didn't hear much of what the lion-turtle said, but I did hear "[if you fail] you will be destroyed" so yeah. |

I would have been ok with Aang defeating Ozai, but the way he did it seemed like all the conflicts just magically were resolved while Aang had to give nothing up in the process.

She already has some rage issues, I dunno. Bloodbending is too creepy to have it be continually brought up. Especially on a kids' show. |
Actually, I think they could pull it off; she just has to come back from the brink. It'd be an neat progression. Katara starts as a goody-good wimp, becomes a bad ass out of necessity, but then goes too far and is corrupted by power, and I suppose Aang would pull her back.
I love the idea of the "Sugar Queen" losing her grip...it'd show that even one of the series' heroes is morally fallible and needs to work hard at doing the right thing. It'd also set up a contrast with Azula, of all people. Katara would risk corruption in the power of bloodbending, but be rescued by the love of her friends, while Azula spirals into insanity because she is alone.
Eh, but this would take episodes, and they'd run out of time. A shame. As it is, Katara doesn't really do much of interest in the finale. And her character had grown so much since the beginning, too.

But of course, they took the easy way out and decided to return her to her little goody-two shoes way. GAH.

Well in their world you have crazy things roaming around so maybe there are soy plants sprouting around lol Btw congrats on the whole vegetarian thing i've been slowly trying to become one but its really hard... so far i've given up on cow and pig... slow and steady but eventually there =D |

Yeah, kids would have nightmares of evil bloodbending Katara. lol. XD
isabelwhatx wrote: |
There's that too. Ugh, I wish Avatar wasn't a Nick show. It has so much more potential. They should move it to some other channel. |
Yeah, there were so many parts of the show, where they could have made it soooooo much better, but it wouldn't be "kid appropriate."

No, that would be pretty awful. I don't have anything specific in mind, it's just that the ending of "The Puppetmaster" made it seem like a really important thing that Katara had learned to bloodbend, and "The Southern Raiders" showed that she'd use it despite herself if she were angry enough, and then...nothing. |

the only part that's hard for me is to convince my parents to let me continue being a vegetarian every few days!! If you NEED to taste meat, sautee tofu a while longer and it feels a tad bit like meat or buy fake crab meat, make sure it has no fish though, and I've been a vegetarian for 2 years now |

oh my god, I completly agree with Xdarkdudex. That whole "soul bending" thing was such a conviently placed little plot device. Of course he was pure! They writers wouldn't have the guts to make him corrupt in any sort of way. But it did at the same time stay very true his character, although his character is completly lame =p His "darkest" moments consisted of comedic hallucinations as a result of insomnia. I mean common.
