If zuko took the fall i would have died of somesort of cliche writing related disease and went on an angry rampage lol.

    As a zombie? XD

    Yeah most likely hahaha

Omg, my life would be so complete if Katara had stayed in her little devolved state, and became this dark character. It would have been such good writing. On a kids show though, psh the writers would get slaughtered i'm sure.

Ah! That would be so cool. If Katara had turned bad. They should've had a good character turn bad. It would've made things much more interesting.

EXACTLY! Ahahahaha. I was about to scream. You all know you felt it, too. ADMIT IT!

Actually I just thought he was gonna die or something...or have his bending be taken away as well. I didn't hear much of what the lion-turtle said, but I did hear "[if you fail] you will be destroyed" so yeah.

Yeah kids are pretty dumb. But the network would have never allowed because of all the angry, over-bearing PTA mothers out there.

So... I have a question of sorts... Anybody have any thoughts about the fact that Aang didn't kill the Fire Lord in the end? Think it was a creative decision on the part of the creators or that Nickelodeon just wouldn't allow it? I'm kind of leaning towards the latter, because I think DiMartino and Konietzko are very smart and talented and would have forshadowed the way out of killing Ozai long before they actually did. As it stands, the giant creature giving Aang Energy Bending seems like something pulled out of their rear ends at the last minute.

I agree with you totally, because the turtle in general seemed to be a very awkward device used by the creators to make so Aang could have his cake and eat it too.

I've never liked that analogy. What else does one do with cake?

If you eat your cake, you can't have it, so its impossible to do both at the same time. Aang wanted to defeat Ozai, but didnt want to kill him, so it'd be like he wants to have his cake, but also to eat it. What I meant by the analogy was that the creators gave him a way to do both, by giving him energy bending or whatever, which would be like giving him another cake, so he could have a cake and eat one too.

The sole purpose of acquiring a cake is so that you can eat it, so that analogy doesn't work in this situation.

There are paintings of cake. Although thats not the best example that shows there are other things that are done with cake, so having cake is not simply rhetoric to create the analogy.

So you'd want a cake to make a painting of it? Why not just paint a picture of cake anyway, what the hell do you need the cake for? There is only one reasonable thing for someone to do with cake, and that's to eat it.

    Could sell it...

Regardless, the point is, the turtle felt like the creators were trying to allow Aang to do what he wanted to do (not kill Ozai) while doing what he had to do (defeat Ozai), two things which should have been mutually exclusive (you can't have them both). But they made it so that he could do everything, and lost really nothing. The last episode was all about Aang's gain, and everything in his life coming together. He defeated Ozai, Keitara really did love him, the balance was semi-fixed.

That's another thing that bothered me. The whole thing about Keitara not being sure about really loving Aang really didn't resolve, it just fixed itself, and Keitara came back. I felt at least there should have been something explaining that. That's what Keitara and Zuko should have done when they went away.

It is spelt Katara. So what did you want from the finale exactly? For Aang to not get what he wants and fail?

I don't know if anyone has talking about this but i'm not going throw over 150 pages to find out.

Anyone else hate that cookie cutter, cliche, last 5 minuetes? God, way to take the lazy way out, because they managed to resolve all of the shows in depth issues, spaning over many season, into one little short sweet package. Those last 5 minuetes felt like the writing of 7th grade fan in a creative writing class. Don't yell at me, lol, just saying =]

But everything wasn't resolved, it was acknowledged that the FireLord & Avatar still have plenty of work to do before restoring honour to the Fire Nation and restoring the balance of the world.

I would have been ok with Aang defeating Ozai, but the way he did it seemed like all the conflicts just magically were resolved while Aang had to give nothing up in the process.

She already has some rage issues, I dunno. Bloodbending is too creepy to have it be continually brought up. Especially on a kids' show.

Actually, I think they could pull it off; she just has to come back from the brink. It'd be an neat progression. Katara starts as a goody-good wimp, becomes a bad ass out of necessity, but then goes too far and is corrupted by power, and I suppose Aang would pull her back.

I love the idea of the "Sugar Queen" losing her grip...it'd show that even one of the series' heroes is morally fallible and needs to work hard at doing the right thing. It'd also set up a contrast with Azula, of all people. Katara would risk corruption in the power of bloodbending, but be rescued by the love of her friends, while Azula spirals into insanity because she is alone.

Eh, but this would take episodes, and they'd run out of time. A shame. As it is, Katara doesn't really do much of interest in the finale. And her character had grown so much since the beginning, too.

What did you want her to do? Start controlling Azula and make her knock herself out?

No, that would be pretty awful.

I don't have anything specific in mind, it's just that the ending of "The Puppetmaster" made it seem like a really important thing that Katara had learned to bloodbend, and "The Southern Raiders" showed that she'd use it despite herself if she were angry enough, and then...nothing.

The fact that bloodbending can only be done during a full moon pretty much ruined any chances of it happening more then once after the puppetmaster episode. I agree she could have atleast talked about it with the GAang more, or Zuko could have said something instead of standing there like she was naked, but I guess the creators decided to leave it at that. That was enough for me anyway. Bloodbending is pretty much the ultimate bending, other then giant turtle bending, so im glad they didnt give it more screen time. It wouldve just made fight scenes boring and dull. Speaking of fight scenes, I have to say that the Zuko vs. Azula fight scene was the most adrenaline rushed, exciting, colorful, orgasmic audio-having scene in Avatar, or any other anime (except maybe DBZ) that I have ever seen. I am still confused about whether or not Zuko actually REDIRECTED the lighting that Azula shot. It looked like he stuck his fingers out as if he were trying to, but it looked like it overwhelmed him. When I saw his arms go into his chest I thought he was finished, but then a random streak of lightning shot into the sky. IDK abotu you guys but that seems wierd to me. AND it left a scar to so how could he have possible redirected it?!?!?!?!?!?! Another thing...who thinks its retarded that ZUKO has the balls to redirect lighting at HIS OWN FATHER, THE FIRELORD, but Aang doesn't have the balls to redirect it at HIS ENEMY...??!??!?!?! That seems completely retarded to me

I was a vegetarian. Not because I hate the whole "animal cruelty" thing, but just because it sounded fun. I lasted two weeks and called it quits. My family are meat fanatics. I couldn't go a day without have fish, pork, or cow for dinner. My God, it drove me insane.

oh my god, I completly agree with Xdarkdudex. That whole "soul bending" thing was such a conviently placed little plot device. Of course he was pure! They writers wouldn't have the guts to make him corrupt in any sort of way. But it did at the same time stay very true his character, although his character is completly lame =p His "darkest" moments consisted of comedic hallucinations as a result of insomnia. I mean common.
