    By the fans, at least.

I see a lot of threads popping up most everywhere. Things like "Who's the best Avatar villian?" "Who's the toughest Avatar villian?" "The scariest?" "The worst?" "The evilest?"

And, pulling numbers out my butt here but they're feeling about right, about 90% it's Azula. 9% is Ozai, and 1% is random villians throughout the series, like Koh and Hama.

I have never seen anyone answer with Sozin. Let's face it, the guy's a villian even if we don't know much about him. I mean, he left Roku to die. It's possible he was the one to wipe out the Airbenders, he started the raid on the water tribes. (I say possible because they were wiped out, what? 12 years AFTER Roku's death). He could calulate his advantages, as stated in Zuko Alone. He wasn't a very nice man.

So does Sozin deserve a little villian love?

You've got a very good point thewerewolfmage. Sozin was a great villain. His firebending was top notch, he was the mastermind behind the war, and he was still human. Problem was, overtime his dreams began to overshadow his friendship and value of human life. Let's not forget how he could control the heat of a volcano with his fingertips. And he had a cool dragon.

An excellant point! I maen after all he did start the war and the comet that can end the war is named after him. Really without Sozin there would be no show. He really does deserve consideration

Very insightful topic. All I can really do is agree. The only thing is, he's overlooked because he's not on the forefront

His firebending skills had to be amazing if he could control the heat of the volcano out of it. I think most villians get like that. They think they have a wonderful cause but over time, their outlook on it and everything else just changes. Though I see you have a point. I think his ideals took over everything. He clearly had no value of human life to let his best friend since, was it childhood?, die like that.

Yeah, without Sozin, who's to say Aang would even be the avatar? Isn't the Avatar born right after, or soon after, the first one dies? And if Sozin hadn't let Roku die, well we might have a different Airbender.

But it's as a lot of people are saying, since he's out of sight, not pushed forward, he's not thought of as much.

Though I do imagine he might be where Azula gets her cruel streak from.

I think Ozai is definitely overshadowed, him and Ozai. Everybody says Azula, but really she's just a really evil henchmen, she didn't fight in the war, she didn't commit genocide, like Sozin. She didn't scheme her to way to the throne, isn't leading the fire nation's war against everyone else like Ozai is doing. Fact is she's just a henchmen for Ozai and she just follows his order really well.

And wow an insightful thread, fail month is coming to a conclusion.

To what you said above, maybe. But we don't know what Sozin's father was like; was he a tyrant like his descendants? Or was Sozin the starter of that.

But yeah, Sozin needs to get a little more recognition. I think he was a very powerful bender. I mean, the guy lived to be pretty old, amirite?

But also have to say, he was downright adorable as a teenager. Too bad he got butthurt over the rejection of his love for Roku. XD

Sozin probably started the whole tyranny thing, because as a teenager he seemed well adjusted, but when he became firelord he let the power go to his head and tried to spread the peace. Far as we know this hasn't been attempted by a firelord previously.

Yeah, I think it was Sozin's idea to take over the world and suchlike. The very fact that Roku was from the Fire Nation and people from the other nations were still willing to train him probably says that the world was doing okay back then.

Yeah, the whole genocide thing kind of makes him look pretty bad.

Plus he was voiced by Ron Perlman. Can't get much more badass than that.

Oh yeaahh! That's right. Hellboy did his voice.

That is pretty badass. And then there's that chick who can Firebend (blue fire too!) Hellboy chick (don't remember her name) is totes Azula.

    So "Hellboy" supports incest. Trufax.

Ahem.. Hellboy and Fire Chick had a thing going on, amirite? So, if Hellboy is Sozin, and Fire Chick is Azula.. There you go.
