A filler is an episode that does not contribute to overall plot and is normally used for comic relief, character devolopment or to review what happened thus far in the shows plot.

So I ask you this question, How many of the episodes in season 3 were fillers?

There were many episodes that provided much character development, but never really affected the plot in a major way.

Well if your looking for fillers you can eliminate the second half the season as well as the DoBS.

I'm not saying that I didn't like the 3rd season, I'm saying that I would of prefered more plot-relevant episodes.

    Yeah, me to!

I also liked the difference in the voice of the guy that plays Aang. Go ahead, listen to the first episodes and then to the finale episodes... You'll hear what I mean

It didn't add anything extremely important, just a little Kataang action. And I think recaps are considered fillers.

Mapletree46, and I'm not saying that you didn't.
Everyone has a right to an opinion.
Some (like me) love these filler-episodes.
Others (like you) prefer plot-relevant episodes.
To each's own, and Avatar delivers to everyone.

    I counted 5 fillers.

    302, 303, 305, 309, 317

I agree Mapletree. There were a bit too many fillers for at least Avatar standards. I wish they used those episode slots to develop the events up to the final battle more.

The filler in my opinion are The Headband, The Painted Lady, The Beach, The Ember Island Players, and The Runaway except for Combustion Man

I thought about putting 307, but since Combustion man showed up, the events surrounding the episode become suddenly revelant to the story.

I don't know if I'd consider character development filler, they could have had more plot based episodes, but how many plot forwards can they have before the finale? The 1st half of the season, they spent waiting for DOBS, I don't see what else could be done in this time, except for filler, or characterization.

You missed the biggest filler of them all, "Nightmares and Daydreams." Although I like the fan-service in that episode, nothing important happened. I was hyped up for something action-packed before DOBS, but I was a little disappointed. It was a rather funny/weird episode though, and I mean it in a good way.

there were ALOT of fillers. But it was actually needed. The only one, although funny, that was kinda of drawn out and unessary was EIP.

fillers are mostly left up to opinion in the end so idont see how we can really call something a filler or not.

I know for sure that The Puppetmaster wasnt a filler because bloodbending was later used in TSR
