I was just little confused by the turtlelion the way it was introduced in the story. I wonder if it was ever mentioned before in the series. oh well it just gives me an excuse to watch it from the beginning to find the answer.

A lot of people seem to think that the Avatar State was not a fulfilling way to end the fight and made Aang's other training pointless; however, this is untrue as Aang never used the Avatar State of an element he had not mastered, even in SotN he had the power of the Ocean Spirit to aid him, so his training was required. |
Actually Aang uses the Avatar State to bend water several times before he has any training whatsoever. First, if you'll remember, he is known as "the boy in the iceberg" because when he fell into the water 100 years ago his Avatar State froze the water around him. Also in the second episode after being captured by Zuko for the first time, he is fire-blasted into the water where he goes into the Avatar State and water bends for the second time in his life. Judging by this, and for the fact that the Avatar State is the combinations of all his past lives, the Avatar State must be able to control all of the elements. But for your other points, I totally agree.
I'd rate the ending four episodes a 7.5 out of 10. It was a little above average, but there was a ton of things that needed to be cleared up, plus the Zuko fight scene was awesome until Katara froze Azula. Don't get me wrong, I love Katara as a character, and freezing Azula was a pretty cool idea, but I mean we've seen fire benders easily melt the ice before, why couldn't a souped up fire/lightning bending Azula do the same? I would have had Azula get out of the ice, and then had Katara use water to conduct Azula's lightning, and use it against her. That way it would have been more believable.
As far as the Avatar State beating the Phoenix King, I really don't mind. The fact that Aang was able to flawlessly return out of the Avatar State without fainting meant for me that he was in total control the entire time. Plus even out of the state he was able to use his bending power to sense Ozai's attack, and end his reign once and for all.
Overall its been a good long run for the Avatar, and I guess I'm content for how the finale played out. O and yea I was a sucker for the kiss at the end. It might be cliche, but I don't really give a ****. Aang and Katara were meant for each other.
a google plex/10
Sozin's comet was amazing....the music really got me....im a sucker for instrumental themes...it makes me really emotional.....anyways.....great battle scenes.....though i would've liked it if the common questions asked were answered (confuing) like Where's ursa and what happened to Azula......and Katara barely did anything....except chain Azula.....she needed to be involved with Aang and Ozai probably.....like....Aang jumps infront of Katara instead of the Zuko thing.....Zuko should have gone alone to settle things alone.....ya...previous lines might have to be changed...but it wouldv'e made more sense to have Katara be saved by Aang and then have the emotional kiss in the end and her telling Aang thank you and then they kiss.....Zuko should've gone alone cuz it was a brother/sister thing.....also, i would've liked to have seen more of Suki action....she barely did anything.....she's like the only one who does punches and kicks and there was nothing of that from her or anyone else....except jade...but that was nothing.....but other than that......google plex/10......hahaha

for the people who are saying that the avatar state was cheap and that Aang didnt know what he was doing when he was in it.....he did cuz at the end when he took away ozai's bending, Aang said he took away his bending.....even though Aang was in the avatar state when he Energy/Spirit Bent Ozai...haha.....that's weird saying bent....I waterbent.....i firebent.....I airbent.....I earthbent...hahah |
9/10
It had impressive battles and the scene where Zuko and Katara fight Azula was amazing. Also we learn that Aang can remove bending from people.
But it doesn't reach a 10 because not everything about some of the characters was revealed and left us with tons of unanswered questions. And important characters like Iroh, Bumi and Hakoda were not shown much in the highly important scenes of the episode.

i dont get it...but anyways.....he was glowing so thats why i think he was in the avatar state
To be honest I rate this an 8/10
1. Well to adress my biggest problem now that avatar is over there are no more cartoons that can inspire the same way Avatar has leaving us with nothing more than spongebob and the might B a sad twist of fate.
2. I feel that Azula's mental breakdown though well done could have been more... in character. After all though insane i feel that she would have broken down emotionally only once not twice but i suppose it was very well done
3. The fight scenes were well done for a series finale which usually don't make for the most incredible fights.
4. I wish that Zuko would have gotten his victory against Azula.
5. This gives closure to all the pairings which I like but I feel as though there could have been something more whick I can't place my finger on
6. I feel that all in all it is a great way to end an epic show
