Idea later is i'm working on it. I know glass is made of sand, and sand is earth, but when sand turns to glass it could become somewhat like metal. I don't know, i'm not the scientist guy. But i vote against earthbenders being able to bend glass. Do they even HAVE glass? I don't think i've ever seen glass in any episode of the series.

Well, Earthbending gems and crystals depends on the minerals of earth in the gems and crystals. The reason Earthbenders can not Bend metal is because the Fire Nation has found ways to remove metal of its natural properties.

Glass they would be able to bend since they are able to bend sand and sand is glass. And yes they do have glass the FN ships have glass windows.

King Bumi could bend the rock candy crystal stuff. Does that count?

He also said it was geminite. I think a earthbender can bend gems and cristals, but I don't think they can beand glass.

Forget Bumi's candy. So in that case crystals and gems DO count. But I think there's probably a law against harvesting 'em. Like in FMA, alchemists are forbidden to make gold.

I would say probably so since King Bumi freed Katara and Sokka from the geminite cyrstals, so why cant she?

Another good question is whether or not Earthbenders can bend living things, since when they die, they decompose into dirt, so either there's a point when something's been dead long enough that earthbenders can bend it, or they can just bend dead people. *Imagines Toph leading a zombie invasion against the fire nation*

I think the show is staying with a strict view of the elements.
As in if it's not a rock then earthbenders can't bend it.

One of the main weaknesses of being a water bender is that you must have around in order to bend, but their is plenty of water present is air. There is even dissolved oxygen in water so does that mean that every airbender can also water bend? No. The writers negate that fact because using air is left to air benders and water to water benders. It simplifies the show and adds more of a mystic element to the uhhh, elements.

I want to say no because glass is not a truely naturally occurring thing.?? Glass is superheated sand.?? I think the only way it could be found in nature would be around volcanoes or near a lightning strike.
