My husband played the game with my 7 year old son, and these are his thoughts.

First, this game is not worth 40 bucks.?? If you want a really good 40 dollar game, ANY other movie/tv tie-in game would be better: Barnyard, Open Season, Cars especially.

I felt this game was just thrown together for the sake of having a game.?? And only a month before the more advanced PS3 comes out.?? Why didn't THQ just wait and make a game for the more advanced systems??? While this game is a great role-playing game for 6-11 year olds to get them started in the role-playing genre, it does have some major faults.?? The reason I think this game was just thrown together is three-fold.?? First, there is very little spoken dialogue.?? VERY little.?? And some of it is hardly original!?? Aang says frequently, "All in a day's work for the Avatar", which is a line from the show.?? Second, the graphics could have been much, much better.?? Lastly, there are very few things to do in the game.?? You fight animals, mostly, later replace by bandits at Omashu and firebenders.?? There are no mimi-games to unlock.?? The "Extras" you unlock have more to do with the series and not the game.?? You have four characters to play with, yet it is a one-player game.?? There was very little creativity put into this.?? As I said, the Barnyard, Open Season, and Cars games are much, much, better.

On the upside, it was a simple enough game for my 7 year-old to figure out.?? The best moment in the game involves the poor cabbage vendor at Omashu.?? When character levels up, all of them level up at the same pace (again, a simple RPG).?? If it allowed for more than one player, the characters would likely advance at their own pace.

Other things I disliked about the game: Zuko makes only brief appearances, and no Uncle Iroh whatsoever. Plus, there is a nitpick.?? The kids start out at the North Pole, AFTER Zhao's invasion.?? As anyone like us can remember, they leave and immediately go the Earthbending General on the coast, then to the Cave of Two Lovers, then to Omashu to find the Fire Nation with Azula has conquered the city.?? In this game, the kids leave the North Pole, and eventually wind up in Omashu.?? But King Bumi is there walking free and the Fire Nation hasn't invaded yet!?? So there is a hole in the plot versus the plot of the show.??

Another thing I disliked about the game play is that once you leave one major playing area after a "boss fight" (for newbies, a "boss fight" is when you try to defeat the hardest portion of one level to advance in the game), you cannot return?? to anything you've played previously to advance levels or finish any tasks.?? As I said, there is very little freedom in the game.

If anyone from Nick and/or THQ reads this, PLEASE have more in any PS3/XBOX 360/WII game that you create.?? More dialogue, more action, more critters, more mini-games to unlock.?? Please look at the other three games I mentioned and make them more akin to them.?? I would also suggest make an Avatar game with more advanced RPG stuff for adults to play, yet keep it rated E so kids can at least watch them play.

This game is worth $30, MAYBE.?? It should have retailed for $20.?? For a simple game for kids, it's great.?? My expectations were smashed and I was horrified that the Avatar creators would allow such a terrible product on the market.??

It was no wonder, unfortunately, that I could only find this game at my local gaming store and not at Best Buy, Target, or even Wal-Mart.?? And, unfortunately, the marketers of the game will see that it sold horribly and will decide not to make a second game.

    Horrible, horrible, horrible.

    Thanks for the review

However, I'm not at all surprized that it was unenjoyable, Nick/THQ games usually don't come out that good, IMO. I would love to see an Avatar??RPG????made by BioWare (the creators of KOTOR and Jade Empire), but I highly doubt that will ever happen.

They are going to??have it launch with the Wii, but no other next-gen consoles. The gameplay with the controllers might ake it better, but I saw some of the screen shots on Gamespot, and they weren't that impressive. I hope they're actually better, since pics look worse uploaded on the web, then it does on your TV screen. All we can do is cross our fingers. *sigh*

I'm not surprised at this at all. Games based on TV shows, toys, and movies tend to not turn out very well. They're enjoyable for small children because they don't have that advanced understanding of what really makes for an interesting game. *shrugs*
It's too bad though -- Avatar had the potential to be an awesome video game, but... *sigh*

It seems the PS2 version also sucks... Wii's graphics are almost the same as ps2 so there will not be a big difference, so sad... Wow, Lisa, i never expected that married people enjoined avatar!! I guess is becoming very popular!

Ah yes, Spiderman 2. That game was fun, even if me and my cousin beat it in a few hours.

EVERYONE, I think we should make an idea petition for this, because this system would probably be the most amazing avatar game ever possibly created. Amagine you have a PS2 controller in your hand. The left analog stick would be for movement only. The right analog stick on the other hand, would be integrated to create a great combination control of the bending arts. It would be very labor intensive, but this combo possibility would be amazing. Amagine you are an earthbender player. By moving the right anolog stick down, then up, then up again you could bring a rock above ground, levitate it, and shoot it forward. With certain combinable basic moves, it would allow for limitless control of the bending arts. The buttons would be for things like crouch, jump, etc. and then the shoulder buttons would be detailed for each bending art. With earth bending and water bending, the shoulder buttons would control what forms of the elements it has. So if you pressed R2, the waterbenders water would turn to ice. For air benders and fire benders it would be special moves, like gliding or lightning. Then if even more effort was put in, you could integrate movement with the bending. An airbender could bend and move in a circle to create a tornado. READ THIS IF YOU AMAGINE WHAT A GOOD AVATAR GAME WOULD BE, CAUSE THIS WOULD BE IT. I SEVERELY HOPE A GAME LIKE THIS COMES INTO CREATION RELATIVELY SOON.

?????? is anyone familiar with the video game jade empire this game is absolutely amazing. I feel that avatar should be made the same way. I think everything about?? the games fighting engine is similar to the way an avatar game should be made.

Bioware is brilliant. KOTOR is easily one of the top 100 games of all time, one of the 3 best computer RPG's of all time, and one of my personal favorite games. The final battle is 00ber fun. I would play an Avatar game made by them, and would also play it even if I didn't know about this TV show.

Note: I expected this game to be a piece of crap. Do not get hyped up on anything made to promote a product, ever. Sometimes it'll be good, and you'll be pleasantly surprised, but far, far more of the time, it will be terrible.

i knew this game would suck even though i was hoping it wouldnt but a few motnsh ago i saw some screens from it and after that i stopped looking up info on the game. nick games tend to suck period you ahve all these great cartoon liscenses and they always do a half cracked job on them just to get people to buy them and inevitably people do because they think itll make a great kids game or kids want it cause they liek the cartoon.

if i were going to do an avatar game itd have to be done like kingdom hearts where you have the other characters aroudn you but they figght on their own. youd of course be in control of ang and depending on the storyline you coudl switch between the characters if one isnt in play. the game should be set in an open world where you can travel to all the diff locales of the show and do side missions to earn money to buy items and weapons as well as food and other collectibles.

as far as travel goes you shoul dbe able to travel by land and air and of course to simplify travel you could set it up so that after you travel to a place you can skip flying back to it by plotting your course on the world map and then you will instantly be sent there but time will change accordingly since the game should have a day night system.

another thing they could borrow from kingdom hearts would be the ability to customize how your friends fight or assist you and experience is gained by practicing techniques and skills and the more you practice your bending the more powerful or advanced your attacks will be. the main focus of the game should be exploring and the ability to vist the places youve seen int he game and chances are itd be easier to pull off the game better on a higher end newer system like the ps3 than the others and maybe the 360 once they get the hd disk drive in place.

not to mention you need to have a deep hand to hand combat system as well as the ability to use bending?? on the fly. itd also be cool to be able to use your bending skills to help people and they should affect the environment not to mention where you fight should be just as important as how you fight. like if youre fighting a bunch of fire warriors then itd be smarter to fight near water as opposed to in a forrest especially if you havent learned earth bending yet.

and as a bonus you should be able to do side story missions as other characters in the game like zuko and his grandfather or zukos sister and her 2 friends or as the kioshi warriors. but over all what would make the game shine is mini games and side quests from helping people out with bandits or raiders to just using your bending to do tasks or chores. and when you fight enemies in groups you should be able to share experience with everyone
