Petition for either the unlocking of the fanclubs, or starting over

Do you think the Fan Club Threads should be unlocked, or new ones allowed?

The fan clubs have been locked.

I have read the newly pinned thread on this, and I believe that I understand the reasoning behind this act. The fanclubs that have been created over the last few days did have a lot of potential for becoming disruptive. But that does not mean that they should have been locked.

This is a petition asking for the fanclub threads to be unlocked. If this is not convenient, then we would ask permission for new ones created to be given a chance.

If either of these happen, we, the people who intend to use them, promise to use them in a way far more in keeping with the spirit of tv.com. There is nothing in the rules against having a general multi-purpose thread with a theme of a certain character, and this is what the more popular fanclub threads could have amounted to.

I now make this plee to my (no doubt extremely upset) fellow users: DO NOT RIOT. As long as we do our best to sort this out peacefully, I think we can achieve results. Post here and use the poll by way of signing this petition (if anyone knows how to create a real one, that would be most helpful).

If we go about this an an orderly way; pming the mods to explain our reasoning, etc, we can achieve our goal.

See my blog for further details, and venting, if you wish.

Did you read why the clubs were locked in the first place? Its pinned at the top. Even though I support this petition, I don't really think it will work and if it does people might go off-topic and it would be locked...

I did read it. The reason the clubs were locked, as far as I can tell, is that the mods were worried people would go off topic, develope rivalries, flame other clubs, and most unforgivably of all, bump the threads.

If we promise to do none of that, I think we can get permission to start new threads on a similar, more reasonable line.

i doubt that they'll unlock it.

    however, ill sign it.

you know, we should make like a group.

a group that ends repetitive/offensive thread, stops people from rioting, stops fights. who makes peace.

then the other poeple will have less hatred of the mods. then there will be less rioting, less trolls (no guarantee)

    people like

    Axrendale, emoharuno, dafoose.

people who always tried to solve problems peacefully, not with profanities and rioting.

i think that should make less labor for the mods.

How could the mods be worried about all that happening? Everything you said did happen. I do support your choice to deal with this situation in a peaceful manner. Thats why I'll sign your petition.

some clubs were done for the lulz

I suggest follow the instructions given for those who really want a club

create blogs for the "clubs", and put links to them in the sig(either URL or behind images)

and make the clubs for the true "main characters" like Azula, Ty Lee, Sokka, Zuko, Suki, Katara, Aang, Iroh and some others

Excellent, remember everyone, we're using the poll of this thread as an easy way to count signatures. By adding the two together, we get a final count. Personally, I think we should all vote in the "start over" option. The clubs as they were were great, but mistakes were made.

This is not a resistance; this is a delegation. We are here to peacefully present our wishes to the mods, and hope that they will be reasonable. We are being reasonable. We have admitted error, and are willing to start over.

Be careful; it was people making clubs all over the place for fairly ridiculous reasons that attracted the attention of the mods in the first place. We need to be serious with our second attempt.

Besides, it's not the editor's fought, it's the mods fought, actually, it was our fought.

I understand where the moderators are coming from. There HAS been lots of spam in those threads. That's not a good reason to lock the entire thread though, imo. *sighs* This is why the moderation of these boards on TV.com fails so much. Instead of mods who are actually tied to the board itself, you just get officials who hand out bans, locks, or new policies. I'm not going to rant about this There's no reason to on a board like this where there are no officials who will actually listen (because they can't really. There are too many boards for the few mods to actually scrutinize the threads and posts).

I don't think the threads should have been locked. The spam posters should have been targeted instead. =/

I, of course, would follow those rules. I'm not so sure that others would. It's very easy to get off topic. Hopefully we can educate everyone, but it'll take a lot of effort.

QFT. It's not the thread, it's the posters. Why should some of us be punished when others broke the rules? It's unfair GAH. But it's okay. Stuff like that gets very out of hand very quickly. I understand why they did that.
