wow this episode was terrible. the long-awaited fight between zuko and jet was awful. no action at all and i felt really disappointed. there wasnt much display of skill from zuko as in the blue spirit and jet in "jet." and the creators shouldnt have kept on cutting off the??fight.????

Wow, I'm surprised you hate it. This is one of my favorite episodes ever. I thought it was great. The city is under control from a corupt government that has convinced people that everything is fine. I think this was a great episode. And how much do you want to be that the government has Appa... The Zuko vs. Jet fight wasn't that great, but it wasn't awfull. Plus Jet is getting brainwashed! That part is cool. I loved this episode.

On the preview, there was a new character talking to aang, telling him the King can't be bothered or something like that. I recognized the guy's voice, but i just can't name the actor. anyone know who it is?
According to IMDB it's Kiefer Sutherland. Doesn't really sound like him in the preview. Of course, I didn't recognize Daniel Dae Kim from "Avatar Day" either until I looked it up.
The guy from '24'? It sure didn't sound like him.
I agree with you there. Plus he has like one line in that preview so it's hard to tell. Though, it wouldn't be the first time they get relatively big celebrities as guest stars. They've had Rene Auberjonois twice (Great Divide and Northern Air Temple), George Takei (Imprisoned), and let's not forget The Joker himself, Mark Hamill as Ozai (oh and he was also in Star somethingorother *shrug* )

I saw the episode, and i recognize the voice now. The character was Lord Feng of course, and the voice was Clancy Brown. My brothers pointed out that the guy had the same voice as Lex Luthor from the Superman cartoons. Everything clicked from there. But hey, it's not the first time IMDB's been wrong. There was a time when they said this character from Gundam Seed Destiny was voiced by Richard Ian Cox. I am a loyal fan of his work, and I knew right off the character wasn't one of his. Looked close at the credits, and sure enough I was right! It WAS a completely different guy.

What exactly happened with the hostess lady at the end? I couldn't quite grasp what happened.

How can Katara pass for an Earth Kingdom??girl? She's got brown skin and blue eyes. Doesn't this obviously mark her as a Water Tribeswoman?

Meanwhile, Ba Sing Se is freakin' scary. I love the level of moral complexity in this show...Ba Sing Se is the victim of the Fire Nation's aggression, but that doesn't mean they're good or virtuous.

I guess this explains why they have a weak and incompetent general defending the outer wall...systems like this tend to value compliance and "correct opinions" over actual merit.

I wonder if Aang'll end up just busting through the Dai Li to see the king? They can't put the Avatar in their bag!

Man, this is one crack head episode, your first intentions of Ba Sing Se was as if they were tough people as shown by the stances need for earthbending and the fighting against the drill. When they go inside Ba Sing Se they are crazy nutters, ultimate state of denial :S.

I liked the episode was fun but also just plain nuts how i didn't really expected this but then again i did. It aint communistic though cuz they won't have a difference in wealthy or poor peeps and communists hate kings etc though the cruelness in silencing people up is a bit like north korea (to be honest) still it has more properties of a dictatorship. One thing that really bothered me about the episode was that you don't see iroh and zuko entering the city and that would be fun to see those expressions cuz they are the first firebenders ever to have entered the city....

About the next episodes (the final of season 2). I think that when the final showdown will be aired (my guess is that it's at ba sing se) that as another story line they will choose this When that long feng guy will see those hot air balloons and it scares the living shi t out of him and he'll (somewhere near the end of part 1) give aang appa back so aang can save the city. But that will only happen after he realizes that his elite earthbenders can't do shi t against those balloons, but that's just my guess.

Several male earthbenders have dark skin, and Suki has blue eyes... at least I think she did. I KNOW she did in SotFN...

I always thought it was obvious that the aang gaang besides toph aren't from the earth kingdom, ESPECIALLY when they're traveling, Their traveling clothes don't really blend in, Zuko and Iroh are much more stealthy. But in the party I think Katara will blend in enough. People might just think she's exotic or something...

?? I agree it could have been better. I wish it had been longer so we could have seen more action and that??they didn't keep cutting away and coming back; that works in some scenes, like the last scene with Jet and Long Feng, but??I didn't like it in this case. But, I found??the scene??cool enough. I was excited from the very beginning when Zuko just grabbed the first swords he could reach and said, "You want a show? I'll give you a show!"

I think the funniest line was definitely Iroh's "Sick of tea? That's like being sick of breathing!", but Toph's "Have you been hitting the cactus juice again?" was priceless, too.

Sparrowkeets???Well, not the most interesting hybrid, but seeing a pet shop in their world was interesting.

Poor Jet. He??may be obessed, but the fact is, he was right; he just didn't handle the situation right. Is it just me, or do the paranoid ones always fall victim to the government conspiracy first?
