okay let's face it, Mai is never going to hit anyone in this
show because of its rating. the writers have a real dilemma on their hands with
her.

- she has never EVER hit a single piece of flesh with those kunai

- she didnt do anything in the drill episode, the writers' excuse was that
"she hates getting icky"

- she didnt do anything to stop toph and sokka, she just sat there and said
take the bear too

get rid of her character already, she's a crutch. mai might as well throw
grapes or something (see, if she threw grapes, she???d be USEFUL becuz she???d
actually be FEEDING people)!!!!!!
agree/disagree? and I could not make a poll for some reason....(hmm, now i can, the server must have been whacky)

I kinda like her... she shows that not everybody is afraid of Azula.?? She does what she wants, when she wants and really I think she only joined in because (1) she was tired of hanging with her parents and (2) a chance to see Zuko again.??

i agree, shes practically the only neutral character on the show, and proves that spite gets old after a while. she may not be that enthusiastic about...well anything besides Zuko but thats what makes her cool i think,
besides she didnt like the bear anyway and protecting it wasnt that big of a deal

1) She helped take down the Koushi warriors even though it didn't show any of them getting hit.

2)In "The Drill" Ty-Lee didn't do anything either, she just got stuck in the slurry when Katara was bending it. It was just a way to show off her bad attitude while nothing important would have happened.

3)Why should she have fought? It was two against one over a bear. There was no point in possibly getting injured for nothing. Again shows that she is smart, even if it some times comes across as being lazy.

I agree that it is kinda stupid to give her weapons she will never be able to really use, but fire-benders will never be able to horribly burn some one and Sokka will never get to kill any one with his sharp boomerang. This is just the downside of a PG-7 rated show.

After the season finale I don't know how you say people can't get hit by Mai's darts...Aang got zapped by lightning and got a gaping hole in his back and didn't Appa get pincushioned by that porcupine boar thing? and even bled a lil when he plucked on out? I won't rule out someone getting hit in the shoulder or arm with one of those darts. Not by a long shot.

you're right, the show has gotten a lot darker, and i like that. funny you should say 'long shot' in your last sentence, because 'long shot' also never hit anyone...

I'm waiting for that character developement they promised for the next season. As for the she "can't hit actually??anyone" thing, think that's already been touched on and the fact of the matter is until Azula came in, the same went for every single character. Its still on Nick.

I dunno, I think the writers tend to leave a lot off the screen, considering the station. Mai went with Ty Lee to go fight the "terror team" or whatever they were, but they didnt show her.. leading me to believe that offcamera she was, in fact, doing some killin. And when they were fighting the Kyoshi warriors, it sure looked like she was about to kill one of them when it blanked out to Azula and Suki. So, I just use my imagination with her a bit, and not in the same way I think some of you shippers do

Mai is good, but the writers refuse to use her. They're having too much fun with Ty Lee and Azula and just put her in the back seat. I hope they don't let her go to waste. She's skillful and could be a better character than she's been used as. Here's hoping S3 gives her some limelight.
