Love and honor - Central theme of Avatar

    There are several themes in Avatar but i think the most important theme in Avatar is choosing between love and honor. Zuko wants to find the Avatar for honor in order to restore his tittle as prince. Yet Zuko has the biggest scarfice- his mother- one of the two people who truly love him and care for him deeply. On the other hand, Azula wants more honor by capturing the Avatar and will do it at any cost - even death of any of her relative. She tried to kill her brother and nearly kill Iroh her uncle.What are your opinions? Please be honest.

    Well with Zuko's new found heart I think he is going to shoot for what is right now instead of restoring his honor in his father's eyes.?? Therefore I think he is going to help Aang fight Ozai and then take his place on the throne to truly end the war.

    i hope he does that also..i that tonight's episode will def. show some of Zuko's change of heart..

    I agree with Tico-- Zuko's thoughts lately have been on honor, not on the fact that, in the people who care about him, the people who matter, he's very honorable. Once he learns that love is more important, maybe he won't be such an emo.

    emo is a term used to describe a person..and Zuko is not one of them.

    An emo is a person who is very depressed and angry and walks around looking like they're going to cry most of the time. There's a very good song out, it's called 'Emo Kid' by Adam and Andrew. That has a satirical, but accurate, view of what an emo is.

    Yeah, I agree with choosing between love and honor being a central theme. But I would word it differently, I would say choosing between love and duty or "destiny" so to speak. I think Aang's going to have to make a similar decision regarding Katara and his destiny. But like Iroh said "What that means is up to you."

    Now that I've watched the finale I can see this theme VERY clearly. Zuko and Aang each chose a different path. Zuko chose his "destiny" and Aang chose love. We'll have to wait and see how these decisions lead them down different paths.

    Chose love? Chose destiny? Rewatch the episode. Zuko chose love and Aang chose destiny. Love is the path of your passions and can lead you into a blind road towards ruin and betrayal. Destiny is to push aside your loved ones in order to do what must be done. Aang did that when he risked Katara to survive the battle.
