Im sorry to say this. But I think the whole show is going down. First the sucky animation of late season 2. And I think the first time I noticed the fights going down was in "The Serpents Pass", I mean the fights are the best thing about the show besides the storyline. And I do think that its getting to exaggerated. I mean "metal bending" come on its getting to much with that. It kinda fells like the people that do the show are getting lazy and just throwing together episodes. Its kinda sad to see the show taking a downfall
Blasphemy!! You think Avatar is going down!! *grabs pitchfork and starts an angry mob*
Yea I do the main thing is because of the animation. What most of us call the "good aniamtion" is even bad. The show can have a good story and awesome fights but without the looks its worthless. I hope they go threw different animation companies next season.
If I may ask, what the hell are you talking about? The same animation companies did season 2 as season 1. The animation quality is still really high. There has really not been a drop. All the episodes of season 2 I believe were well animated, and I think season 1 might even be the weaker in animation because some are significantly lacking, though all still well-done nonetheless. As for the fights going "downhill" since The Serpent's Pass...I disagree. Eps 16-20 all had at least one really good fight scene. And if I must say this again, it is a show on a kids network. You can say it stretches the bounds or whatever. But it is not immune to the decisions of the network, and if they deem something too inappropriate for a Nick show, they will ask them to re-do it. For example, they had to change the fight scene with Jet, Aang and Long Feng near the end of Lake Laogai because of its violence....
so how was the original scene?? I bet it had more martial arts. But seriously Pooldude, look into my eyes and tell me you did not like TSAT's fight style more than the "bending whips" and about the animation, do you even watch the show?? C'mon man look at the desert!!!! And in the newer episodes Katara looks disgusting, how can you even suggest that the animation on "JET" is at the same level than "the Desert" or "the Guru"???

Not every signle fight can be a fist to fist fight, and it is really cool to see new techniques using bending. As for the fights in The Serpent's Pass, I don't think you can go up to a giant serpent and begin punching it, right? As for the metalbending, it is earthbending and it makes sense. There is earth in metal so it all makes sense. I agree with Pooldude about the fights in Episodes 16-20 and I also agree with Pooldude about Avatar being a Nick show. I don't understand why everyone is so mad about the animation. Its wonderful and amazing! I can't really see any difference at all.... I think the only thing are the ears and thats it.

If some one still believes the animation is at the same level look at this:

    Animation from season 1

    Animation from season 2

I don't think it looks that bad either. They were probably just trying to show us that they have been in the desert for awhile and are very drained.

It looks a bit different, but overall its the same and I still like it. As for the desert picture with Katara sulking, thats because she was dehydrated and tired.

You should compare two similar moments where Katara is well rested and in a good mood. I would be interested in seeing that comparison.

Does anyone else feel like the plot got a little weaker after the Dai Lee came into the picture?

What do you mean? I think the Dai Li were introduced as basically a problem for the gaang. I don't think we will see them anymore unless the gaang confronts Azula and she is still in control on them. Anyway, I guess the plot shifted because of the Dai Li. They had more of a problem with the Dai Li and getting to the Earth King, but overall I don't think it makde the plot weaker. Just my opinion.

The style may be different, but it's still pretty good. And if you can find pictures of them in the same type of angle and/or moods, it might be a better comparison.

Exactly, we need to have more equal opponents.

I'd have to say I don't care that much about the fighting as much as I care about whose fighting who (ya know sides)

The Dai Lee plot left me saying "huh, that makes no sense?!" They hid the war from the Earth King because...? Their motivation was...? They were brainwashing people because...? The Dai Lee would stay loyal to Long Feng even after he had been arrested because...? The Dai Lee would hand over the city to the Fire Nation because...?
I know the standard answers to all these questions, but does it really make sense as a plot. Especially when the rest of the show is so well developed.

Ok, I'll give it a shot for "equal comparison" (and yes, I think the animation is getting a little sloppy when the "bad animators" took some episodes)

Thats true. It did sort of move away from the overall plot of Aang mastering Avatar State--etc. Maybe they wanted to add that because they wanted the finale to end...as it ended.

What were you dorks expecting? The perfect show? I don't need to say anything about Avatar, that's already been done. But I'll admit this: Battlestar Galactica is my second favorite show in existence. It's wonderfully complex and realistic, the psycological depth and moral is fascinating, the graphics and settings are well worth the more-than-a-million bucks poured into development, ancient religion and good old storytelling tactics are used. The Quest archetypical plot takes form in the search for "Earth." But even then I admit it's nothing short of a soap opera in space.

No need for that. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion.
