I'm not surprised about her being a ***** to be honest. I'd go into my friend's 'Katara's overrated' speech, but meh. I really don't care about Katara honestly: I don't like her or hate her (I do like her hairstyle though), though I'll admit, she's my least favorite character in the Gaang. But this isn't like it's the first time she's been mean to anyone. Remember the stuff with Toph?
I agree and disagree with the above statements: Katara was way too harsh to both Sokka and Aang. I understand her anger about her mother and her death but it wasn't like Aang was telling her not to confront him: he was saying do so but don't let your anger get the better of you so much that you do something drastic or that you'll regret. He knows Katara is a better person than that and it wasn't about 'confrontation' it was about 'revenge'. Sokka saw the exact same thing and instead of realizing that they only meant well, she outright brushed them off harshly and to Sokka, her statement was completely uncalled for. And the fact that she didn't apologize to him at any point of the show didn't make the situation better.
I lost a lot of respect for her after this episode. I understood her feelings. Very well. (I won't go into my own personal tragedy...) And yes, I understand the anger and resentment that one feels when something like that happens. I had years to harbor my feelings and when the day finally came after the trial when I got to tell this man how I felt, I let him have it. The weight was lifted. And while I have yet to forgive him, I never took my anger out on my family the way she did Sokka. And that's why I lost respect. Maybe some people in my family didn't seem as angry as I did and dealt with it in a different way, but I know they were in just as much pain as I was. I would never tell my older brother and younger sister that they didn't love my mother the same way I did just because they had an easier time forgiving the person that took her away.
Meh, I don't know. When she said that to Sokka and never apologized or anything, it pissed me off. A lot. The fact that she said it was enough but never apologizing was too much. He didn't deserve that. No one in that situation did and I think less of her as a character now.
Too me no, I just think it takes alot of time to forgive and forget but in this storyline of the episode it's just not their for that guy who killed Katara and Sokka's mother. I do feel pain for her, But she made the right decision into not killing the "Retiree". It's best to not give in tempatation because if you do, The chances are you will not be able to take it back no matter what the consequences are? You never know what you will do when come up to a decision like this, The decision can be fast and/or it can be slow having the reaction time to know what will you do. I believe she made the right choice, She didn't make me mad about the situation she was in.
I still don't understand why some people were really annoyed that Katara hadn't forgiven Zuko the episode after he joined the Gaang. She got betrayed big time by someone that she trusted, and that betrayal led to Aang's death (however momentary). She probably felt guilty for letting Zuko gain her trust in the first place instead of just attacking him outright and stopping him from siding with Azula. So, along with that tumult of emotions, she was also dealing with her mother's death again in TSR. Plus there's the huge stress of the impending arrival of the comet weighing on everyone's minds, including hers. So really, Katara's expecting her to act the exact way that I'd expect her to.
And anyone who says she's just PMSing should probably reflect on what Katara's had to deal with

QFT, both of these. Zuko was a total @$$ in this episode. He was so determined to get Katara to like him, that he lost all his better judgement. It's a good thing Katara proved to be more mature than him in the end, or else that guy would have been impaled with icycles.
Hey, was anyone else dissapointed with the end of this episode. I was expecting some plot twist similar to what happened in Spider Man 3. I was expecting the bad guy to be less bad than Katara thought, maybe just a soldier following orders and not realizing the consequences of his actions until later and being filled with remorse when Katara found him (and not just because she was going to kill him). It even would have been believable if it turned out that he hadn't actually been the one who killed her. It was a let down to see that he was just as bad as Katara claimed he was.
Btw, remember when Katara was bloodbending and the guy made squishy dismemberment noises whenever he would move? Did that gross anyone else out?

You're a stronger person than I could ever be. If someone killed a member of my family, I'd want to murder him on the spot, and I wouldn't give up until he was dead. I can't express how horrible I feel that you had to go through such a tragedy, but I commend you for your strength and ability to face the person who hurt him without trying to get revenge.
totally, Chuck Norris should come in an karate kick her through a window like in the end of Delta Force.

Katara's come across as a b**** more times than I can count in the series. I knew she wouldn't go through with getting back at the guy, its just like her to do that. I was just disappointed that they picked a lame "forgiveness" theme for the episode. I agreed with Zuko "its like doing nothing." |

Im still mad she had this big issue bloodbending to save her brother and close friend, but did it to manipulate an unkowingly innocent stander in two seconds |
