Dante is his middle name... so it might be referencing his father?

Dante is his middle name, not his full name. Its not him.

The creators first names are Mike and Byran, referred to as Bryke. Dante is Mike's middle name. It was probably his dad or something.

The memoriam at the end of the series finale wasn't in reference to Mike or his Dad. I'm pretty sure it was in reverence for his great-uncle or his grandfather's brother who died in WWII. Our 'Mike' is Michael Dante Dimartino. His Dad is Dante DiMartino. His grandfather's brother is also named Dante DiMartino. Apparently Mike's father was named after this beloved uncle. Get it, 'Uncle Iroh?'

Under NO circumstances should anyone ask about this at SDCC on Friday. Show some respect o.k.?

I don't get the Uncle Iroh part, ahahah. But I do think you're right. Don't ask about it. It's rude and unnecessary and just wrong. Don't ruin his day.

Meaning Uncle Iroh's character and possibly Lu Ten's story could have been inspired by Mike's great-uncle, 'Dante DiMartino' who died apparently very young in WWII.

Which boards? What are their sources?

My wife is a journalist and can search obituaries and there is no such one for a "Dante Dimartino", Mike's father. She found the reference to WWII as the search for the name came up.

Yep. That's what I heard. That it might be Mike's dad. I actually like the idea of dedicating creations in the memory of someone. It's very fulfilling.

Yes, I concur with that. That is why I suspect it would be an honor for someone to ask MDD who it was. Oh well, I doubt it will happen at this point.

It could also be considered disrespectful and nosy.

It could be, but I find that dubious considering he made it public.

It still seems disrespectful and nosy. It shouldn't be asked its a very personal thing and you don't want to ruin Mike's day.
