You don't need to be mentally unstable to be a sociopath, you just need to continuously screw others over. Which she definitely does.
She might be crazy anyway though. From watching TBR and the finale trailer, it seems that she's not as calm and flawless as we thought, and she's definitely starting to crack.

Small question, how many of you are trained psychiatrists? and how many of you are 14 year olds who think they are Sigmund Freud because they did mental health in health class, can look up words like conditioning and stigma on Wikipedia and are so totally sure that you can get into medicine because your mother thinks you are the cats pajamas and can do anything if you put your mind to it?

I'm sorry but i hate it when people who don't know the first thing about a subject start spouting off about what their parents or high school teacher told them.

I think you need a chemical imbalance to be a psychopath, but I don't think that is a prerequisite for being a sociopath. A sociopath knows right from wrong, but consistenly chooses wrong for various reasons. They could have ADHD or ODD or any other mental issue that causes them to do as such. Sometimes I think some of my students are sociopaths...

Sociopathism (there is no way that is a word) is a mental disorder, I believe. I'm no expert on this subject but Azula does not have a mental disorder that causes antisocial behavior. She can be social in certain situations (The Beach is a prime example) but lacks the knowledge to do so. For example, does not knowing how to make friends or how to initiate small talk make you a sociopath? No. Azula, APPARENTLY, doesn't know how to function in a 'normal' society. Then again, I have a general idea regarding what sociopath is. Perhaps someone with a PHD in Psychiatry could enlighten us. ;p

Well let's see she loves making others miserable, dealt Aang a death blow, not to mention could have killed Ty Lee just so she would join her which caused her "friend" to give up the life she loved. It also appeared in The Storm that when Zuko was about to get burned she moved in a way that seemed she was bracing for it all the time having an evil smile on her face. I also believe she would have killed Aang after she had pinned him to the wall in the fight in The Drill had Aang not woken up and repelled the attack. She also nearly killed Iroh, and has shown cruelty to animals(turtle ducks, and Appa). Yeah she's psycho and evil. Of course if she's not a psycho now she will be soon.

Definately a sociopath. They're supposed to seem perfect, kind of, and have serious persuasiveness skills. They get mad VERY easily and can't be outdone. Sound like Azula, no? This is the definition of a sociopath: * Glibness/Superficial Charm
