Hermionie/Ron has to be Zuko/Katara. God, do you even read the series or watch Avatar?


    I think he's talking about how Aang/Katara and Hermoine/Ron are the couples that the author has actually set up, and Harry/Hermoine and Katara/Zuko are what the some of the fans favor and have pulled out of no where.
    With the character's personalities, you're right though, but that's not what the person was talking about.

    Harry/Hermionie wasn't exactly pulled out of nowhere. It's pretty customary to link up the male/female leads and run with it. If you want one that comes out of nowhere (and is my personal favorite), look to Harry/Luna. Harry/Luna is a little more up Zuko/Katara's alley.

    First of all, I'd like to say that I am very impressed with the intelligence and maturity with hwich this discussion has been handled. Bravo. Anyway, now on to my comment about the similarites between Potter and Avatar ships. I agree with masterofaeons that Harry/Luna is much more like Zutara. But if you really wanted a parallel ship, I would go with Hermione/Draco. The reason being that Draco is a "villain" but he is not "The" villain. Same deal with Zuko. Also, Zuko and Katara don't know each other all that well, and neither does Draco and Hermione. Now that I think about it, that ship makes some real sense. Once both of them have matured a little more(especially Draco) they could have a real, serious, adult relationship. Just like Zutara. There may not be a lot of current evidence, but there is plenty of foreshadowing and they would make a strong couple.

    Hehehe, no prob! You do have a good point though. There really isn't any proof that Zutara exists, but that can easily change! Ha! In fact, seeing how the writers like to mess with our minds, Katara will probably ditch Aang and Zuko and get together with Haru or something!

    I don't think so but I'd like her to hook up w/ Zuko:-)

    I'm telling you, it's not a crush. He already said he loved her in the 2nd trailer. That's proof enough for me.

    For me, Zutara is like a Sam/Tucker romance in Danny Phantom. That's how out-of-whack it is to me, it could never happen.

    Wow those all stretch the lines of reality. I say they're freaks. Taking serious, and even comical moments, and twisting them into Zutara propoganda.

    1. Katara is a female. Females natural instincts are to care for babies, no matter their origin. If a lady has a homeless Arab child end up on her doorstep and she decides to care for it, WILL SHE END UP WITH AN ARAB GUY? That there makes no sense.
    2. In Bato of the Water Tribe Katara was clearly being sarcastic at the end. Even Sokka can see that. It was a big Kataang moment, yet Zutarians are trying to put it off as a huge moment for them. Ugh...someone's sarcasm meter is turned off.
    3. Oh man, Zuko is NOT a powerful bender. Aang is, Sokka even said so. At last we checked Zuko was still learning "the basics". Besides, since the last time they fought, Aang now has 2 more elements under his belt, and is way more powerful than Zuko.
    4. The whole scene with Jun calling Katara Zuko's g/f was just for humor, holy crap. Besides, any straight male would not object to someone saying some pretty young gal is his g/f unless it's actually true
    5. Recall Zuko still did take Katara's necklace, certainly knowing it's hers. If anything he's a thief, but people say it was big for Zutara. As Katara herself said, "Go jump in a river!"
    6. Those clips of Aang being a "child" are all from season 1 no doubt. He has grown up quite a bit this year with all the big things that are happening.
    7. The Katara saying "he's not my boyfriend" was from the 2nd episode..we're at 38 now. Ask her again, she'd probably change her mind
    8. "Katara was the first to know Zuko's name" - Uhhh...she was the first to speak it among the group but that doesn't mean diddly squat. We don't know who really knew his name first, but it likely was Aang because he spent more time on his ship.
    9. You're really stretching it with Oma and Shu. For one, those two were both from the same country, despite their villages are fighting. And I'm sure neither villages killed thousands of warriors from the other side.
    10. The ponytail joke of Katara's was more of a bust on Sokka, who originally said Zuko was a freak with a ponytail.

    What they conviently forgot was Zuko yelling at Katara in The Chase after Iroh was wounded. That there just about contradicts everything they said.

    Oh, and Pooldude, as for your post immediately after that, I believe you said on your website that you are against Zutara and Kataang. Wouldn't that make you not quite neutral/Switzerland after all? I'm just sayin' . . .

    I'm not a shipper either, but I AM anti-Zutara. Mainly because . . . well, many of you folks have cited Harry Potter, and to steal J.K. Rowling's words in an interview with a well known fansite and twist them to fit Avatar, "The Zutarans are delusional."

    No, no, I don't think ALL Zutara folks are delusional. Just most of thm.

    That, and they also probably Aang, wanting his heart to be broken. (I'm kidding. Please don't bite me).

    Seriously though, I sort of Zutara because it's proof that most people in the world have no idea how either literature works or relationships and attraction work. It's true in just about every other bit of fiction I've read the shipping on (e.g. Harry Potter, Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask, etc . . .), that people just haven't got a clue.

    Yes, I'm over-generalizing . . . but I'm having fun!


    Well I'm not for any ship. Kataang will probably happen, unless Aang puts his own selfish desires to be with Katara away and realizes his destiny is to save the world. Y'know we could end all this Zutara/Kataang debate if Katara someday just....disappeared....

    One of the reasons why I'm not crazy about Katara's character. She's basically "the Mary Sue that wasn't" and she's basically the reason for this insane ship war. I wish she would "disapear".

    I'm so glad people see that "proof" for Zutara so far has been, if anything, wishful thinking. If the writers turn the show around and make Zutara happen FOR REAL, so be it, but even some of the so-called "facts" that support Zutara are??simply pathetic. I mean, that "butt-grab" thing could also be interpreted as a writers device to show that Zuko brought the two water tribe siblings with him, it looked like he slipped and was steading himself. And as for the "He didn't deny she was his girl friend!" thingis wrong. He did answer in the negative, "it's not the girl I'm after", and usually when someone denies they have feelings for someone, they have feelings for them. He didn't blush, like he would have if he did like her and besides, you want to be really technical, he did deny Jin was his girl friend, but then he risked being discovered for her and kissed her! Come on, honestly, this whole thing is ridiculous.

    At this point I could care less who ends up with who on the show, I'm just sick of all the arguments, the ludicrous ship war, and all the ridiculous reasons ships "HAVE" to happen.

    OFF TOPIC: I used a lot of "air quotes" in this paragraph......
