oh no, tjtechi, you have no idea what you have just done. You will soon have the wrath of all Zutatrians on you, and they will be shoving every tiny detail that slightly hints at Zutara down your throat. Btw, I don't like any form of shipping, EVEN shipping and handeling (man, why do they have to make u pay so much just so u can have ur electrical kettle delivered safetly)
I don't really care. All I need is proof. Besides, this thread is turning into a Kataang thread almost on the verge of rampage... Just all of you calm down...

There should be seperate threads for little details like this. If they are put in the relationship thread, they will simply get ignored. It's not about proving Zutara, its about disproving Kataang. If you watch the episode "The Fortuneteller" you will notice that the entire episode is about how Katara doesn't like Aang. I don't see how you could think it proves it. Just watch the episode with the idea that Katara doesn't like Aang in your head, and it will make sense.

Katara was just paying attention to the fortune teller(Aunt Wu) in that episode, but at the end she seemed to like him and then in Bato of the Watertribe she kissed Aang on the cheek and then again in the Earth King and she suggested they kiss in the Cave of Two Lovers. So I can't see why Katara wouldn't like Aang. Its your opinion though

Haha. Oh, yeah. She REALLY seems to like him in "The Fortune Teller." Just watch. In the season finale, aang will finally tell her how he feels, and she will tell him they're just friends, then kiss him. This is just an educated guess.

But why would she kiss him if they were just friends and would it be on the cheek or a actual kiss.

I think Aang will learn how to control the avatar state, then he heads to Ba Sing Se to save Katara from Azula or the Dai Le and when everything is over he will tell her how he feels and then Kataang will happen

I hope its not that predicable.

Or worse, they pull what I call??a "empire strikes back"; through training with the Guru, Aang senses that his freinds and the woman he loves are in trouble. Despite??being advised otherwise,??Aang leaves before completing his training with The Guru, loses his ability to enter the avatar state (based on the trailer) and bravely goes up against unkown odds to save them.

It's pretty obvious that the Guru senses that Aang cares too much for Katara, and that makes him reluctant to go into the Avatar State. Therefore, he has to give her up. That's what I think.

It's all about seeing an impossible relationship work, which gives hope to couples with struggling commitments will endure. Either that or people think their clashing and arguments are just cover ups for the heavy sexual tension between them that leads to hot ***censorship***.

It's called a "Character Arc." You are absolutely correct that Katara did not like Aang in "The Fortune Teller" (you could argue that she does at the end of that episode, but I don't think so).

However, she clearly likes him by now. Again, it's called "character development."

(Sorry if that sounded crass; it wasn't meant to sound that way).

As for why Zutara exists . . . here's my own unsubstantiated guess: the majority of hardcore Zutara shippers are fangirls who think Zuko is hot and angsty and manly, and via wish fulfillment they place themselves in Katara's shoes (whether conciously or not) and want her to fall for Zuko like they already have. And all it took was that scene in "The Waterbending Scroll" for them to start thinking along those lines.

    That's my "Zutara Theory," anyway.

    Lmao. That was nice. lol

Seriously though. I'm a Zuko fangirl. Hate to say it but I am. But put myself in Katara's shoes? Nuh uh. No Freakin way. I am nothing like her for one, and for another even I aren't THAT obsessed....lol. Actually...I bet some people do do that though...Oy.

Good point. I think that's dead right. I think that if (random number) 2/3rds of Zutaras are Zuko fangirls self-identifying with Katara and using wish fulfillment, then 1/3rd of them are those types of people you mentioned.

Hehehe, no prob! You do have a good point though. There really isn't any proof that Zutara exists, but that can easily change! Ha! In fact, seeing how the writers like to mess with our minds, Katara will probably ditch Aang and Zuko and get together with Haru or something!
But then I wonder why Zutara is so popular if there is no proof?

i think it's becuz some ppl just like to pretend or hope for something thats never going to happen lol

oh and just so everyone knows...

I'm pretty sure Katara and Zuko are just going to end up friends....

    but keep hoping lol

oh and keep writing the same fanfic over and over again cuz they NEVER get old *coughnotcough*

As for why Zutara exists . . . here's my own unsubstantiated guess: the majority of Zutara shippers are fangirls who think Zuko is hot and angsty and manly, and via wish fulfillment they place themselves in Katara's shoes (whether conciously or not) and want her to fall for Zuko like they already have. And all it took was that scene in "The Waterbending Scroll" for them to start thinking along those lines.

    That's my "Zutara Theory," anyway.
lol that's kinda pathetic... fangirls? Over a cartoon? not to mention an EMO cartoon? haha..... wow.... um....are ppl going to kill me now?

    Seriously, I agree!

I happen to love Zutara(even though i don't like katara)because the way i see it aang is way too young for katara. He seems like the little boys who have crushes on their friends older sisters. And Katara is about the same age as Zuko and age wise it would work out. Also there's been some hints like the fact that Zuko never denied that katara was his girlfriend. Also I reall don't think the avatar should have a girlfriend because he has too much responsibilities. And this is Nick and in most cases the main guy and girl don't usually get together. Oh and I'M A HUGE ZUKO FANGIRL - HE IS SOOO HOTT (for a cartoon)

The plain and simple truth is shipper have never needed and never will need proof to support their ships.

If Aang had never blushed around Katara or Katara never gave him those friendly huggs and kisses guess what...Kataang would still be around. Fans would like the idea of the couple and support it, with or without proof.
The same is true of Zutara, even before the two ever interacted some people liked the idea of those two together and started supporting it.

The thing thats causing problems is before, Katara and Zuko had never interacted enough to provide anything remotly similar to support for the relationship while there have been plenty of Kataang momements for fans of that ship. Now however with Zuko's personality shift and the trailer for the Season finale Zutara fans finally have something that supports their ship and we have a character (the guru) advising against Kataang.
So whereas before we had two main ships but only one which had support (Kataang) there really wasn't much of a shipping war and Zutara was mostly kept in Fanfiction. Now however we have a full blown war on our hands

I honestly don't care, the writers decided long before the shipping war what was going to happen in the series so argueing about it is pointless. Personally, I like the idea of Zutara, but you'll never catch me ranting and raving about how it. and if it doesn't happen, so what..i'll live.

anyway, just for the sake of the topic here is some of the evidence provedied by both sides of the shipping war.
    For Kataang:
they are the male/female leads, its very common for the two leads to end up together
Aunt Wu's predictions for Katara indicated a powerful bender (aang) and she told Aang he can shape his own destiny
Numerous small hugs and kisses given to Aang from Katara
    Aang's constant blushing around her
The possible kiss in Cave of two lovers

    Against Kataang:
Aunt Wu didn't see any love in Aangs future
the hugs and kisses were mostly to thank him for something, make him feel better, or just friendly
though Aang definatly likes her she hasn't expressed enough interest in him
they may not have kissed in the cave

    For Zutara:
Opposites coming together is another common relationship in shows
the seemingly tender moment they share in the finale
Zuko's turn from anti-hero to hero makes haveing a relationship more viable
closer in age to Katara and more mature than Aang
Katara's natural desire to heal and help others combined with all the turmoil in Zuko's life

    Against Zutara:
    current evidence shaky at best
scene in Finale could mean anything, creators could just be playing with us
all interaction up until now has consisted of him threatening her or them trying to kill each other
