Let me start by saying that i greatly enjoyed watching the SOTFN and i thought it was a great episode. However, for all the hype and big deal it got i thought it delivered very little, here i will go through a list of things that upset me.

1)the secret was a drill, real big deal.(did i miss something here) The way they were talking about it i thought it would be something like Azula killed Azulan, or some secret that would forever change the world of avatar and shape the remainder of the series.

2)the fury of aang was better, yet they had what seemed like a whole extra year to work on this, i mean come on(i know it wasnt that long). If your gonna do two specials in a row the second has to be better than the first.

3)the whole appa thing resolved to fast. It seems like they wanted to get through aang being sad as quickly as possible. the only seen where he seemed real different was when they got to the serpents pass. Other than that he seemed like normal old aang. I dont think they went into it enough and i think they resolved the problem to quickly and easily.

4)Nothing really seemed to happen really. It was just everyone getting to basingse. Not bad for a seaon premier, but no were near good enough for the hype they were giving it. Some things i liked:

1)different aang, although that ended pretty quickly

2)the fighting was good, especially seeing aang using all the bending styles(did anyone else notice the weird ripples when he was moving the big boulder)

3)the return of jet, i would put suki hear but she left. I do think she'll be back but thats not good enough to redeem this.

4)katara in the begining, she always needs to atleast wear her hair like that, it looks better.

I realize i can rate each episode (by the way i'll probably give it a six at best), but i felt that since this was an overhyped special their needed to be something else. Heres hoping the third season finishes better, and im sure it will. Let me finish this by saying that these would have been fine episodes for season premieres or anythign else, but with all the hype we had to hear about it, i felt deeply disappointed. I hope nobody tries to kill me for writing this but i had to complain somewhere.

There are some faults with it, but I think it was WAY better than FoA.

IMO, the fault lies with the hype and presentation of it, in other words, with Nickelodeon. The creators didn't nessecarily want it to be "the secret of the fire nation", just The Serpent's Pass and The Drill.

Chapter 13 was quite rushed. It had so many good ideas, so understandably they had to cram them into the episode, causing it to pass quickly. I'm still happy with it, though. I liked the second part a bit better because its pace wasn't quite so rushed.

One more thing that annoyed me, yes im kind of ranting here. Ty-lee was way over powered. A little girl, no matter how cool should not be able to take out an elite team of benders, well maybe the avatar in the avatar state. My main problem here is that they made the earth guys look like fools. They at least could have hit her a little. If a single girl from the firenation is that strong, how do they not rule the entire universe. I dont believe there is any excuse for her being able to do that unscathed.

Ok, here???s what got to me the most, the dialog. The dialog of the Drill made me cringe.??

???She can shoot all the lighting she wants at me???

Your like a screaming hog monkey

I know he didn???t get that scar from a waterbender.???

I???m watching this and going, ???What the F? What???d they do, borrow Steve Marmel or Butch Hartman for this thing? Is this how its going to be now? The plot and the hook of the show are supposed to be kept separate but related without one overlapping the other. Perfect example: The Deserter and The Waterbending Master.

And Toph. Oh God Toph what have they done to u? Jessie Flowers??? VA was perfect, but the lines they gave her. Turbonick is evil. They made us think all her lines were gonna be that great. Now it seems all she???s got left are blind jokes (that could???ve have been a lot better) and earthbending. That were they were talking about the drill made me cry. Did that have to be her input?

But u know a lot of variables do go into it. The unnecessary hype, the leak, the spoilers, the fact that they???re just two episodes and Nick still isn???t quite used to having a show which actually has a point and contains continuity. Plus this was an action based episode. Hmm, I sure miss The Blue Spirit right about now.????Ah well, at least it looked nice, maybe it'd be better if they didn't talk at all.

Ah well were still in the second season. ...Yeah that saying a lot.

I actually liked the scar line. Maybe it's cause it's something I'd say.

Yeah it wasn't that bad, kinda why I put it last. I just wish they didn't feel the need to use the word bend in every sentence. Its like they couldn't come up with real dialog due to the intense action sequences so they went with this. Goddamn action movies cliches.

Blind Jokes? They weren't any real ones besides the one when she said that she was blind and had a seeing eye lemourr that was pretty unfair.

The one where they were tunneling the drill and Sokka said something like "I couldn't see down there."

The drill wasn't a secret. The solar eclipse is a secret, the drill was a surprise. I feel that SOTFN could have been handled better. Tahn, Ying, and their silent companion just popped up out of nowhere. For such a big event, it could have been handled better. SOTFN didn't even seem like an Avatar episode or TV movie.

Dude I meant that they were making her character really shallow and if they kept this up all that would be left are the blind jokes and earthbending. Now wouldn't that suck?

Yes it would, but her character wasn't shallow she had develpment in the "Serpents Pass" and for "The Drill" it didn't grew just went down a little but she couldn't see in the drill so she wouldn't be useful.....well SotFN was a follow up for me there going to Ba Sing Se were the real action occurs and the season kicks up.

Dude I didn't say anything about the drill. I kinda wish people wouldn't even focus so much emphasis on that particular part. They could've done more with her "developement" (basically a couple good lines)??in Serpent Pass. You know i think all I caught was the "her character went down" part. ??Ah well they were just two episodes anyway.
