| tomtitan, I think you still don't get the difference between bringing revenge on someone who have done bad things to good (or at least not so bad guys) and causing good guys suffer! |
Sorry for some previous off topic posts. I answer the main question of this post: Avatar is one of the most bearable cartoons I have ever seen (Iggy Arbuckle resides the first place)
P.S: Sorry for off topic, but: how do you all think Aang is going to restore the Air Nomad people? I think airbending is restricted to to them, so the Avatar cycle might be broken, when it will it will come to another Air Nomad to become the Avatar? I don't think Aang and Katara's children would be enough for such a task, besides it is unknown what bending abilities their children will have?

| Me too. And don't worry uys, it's okay if you go off topic a little. Many of the things you guys are talking about aren't topics in any current threads. I created the thread after all... Okay, so the original concept was what does Avatar mean to you? And now we're talking about ethics, which is what Avatar has taught us, so in a way we're still talking about the same thing as before, so technically... It's not off topic to discuss whether or not Aang should be killing his enemies for revenge. Also, to answer the past question, I'm pretty sure that none of Aang's children (If they have any) will be benders considering that I'm pretty sure two different benders can't have bending children. I think... Well anyway, the airbenders ARE gone, but you have a good point that no one has talked about? What will happen when it is the Air Nomads turn to bring forth an Avatar? Will the cycle skip to the next nation or will the Apocalypse come down raining upon us? So many questions, so little answers... |
Fully agreed! But I don't think it would Apocalypse - there will be no Avatar and that's all!
Thanks for everyone, but it is already 1.45 am in Russia, so I'll return to this discussion in the morning!

Then why else anyone would kill someone? Or you just like one of those bad guys in Saw, Hostel etc, who kills people just for fun? I hate that kind of people the most! |

Agreed for decreasing number of episodes, but still not enough killings! |
How much does Avatar mean to me?
Lets find out...
One, two, three.
Why am I obsessed with Avatar?
The world may never know,

| Sorry guys, but have you lost your mind? Fire Nation doesn't hesitating when it comes to killing you, even if you saved them from death just a few seconds ago (The Blue Spirit (saving Zuko), Return to Omashu (saving Mai and her family from boulders))? |
For the record, Zuko never tried to kill Aang...
I'm glad there's no strong violence. I do have a fetish for blood and such, but I'm glad this show is so much more mature than any other animated series because of its depth, developement over time, blooming days (second half of Season 1 and Season 2 in that age), attachment to all viewers, and a sense of reality- all without the use of profanity, swears, and gushing guts. It appeals to many people because of this and its storylines, followed by fantastic characters. Honestly, there's no real character I absolutely hate because of their developement...only a couple. How much does this show mean to me? Inspiration for drawing humans for the VERY first time flourished. I thank the show for enhancement on my art 'abilities.' I was introduced to many songs from AMVs. I also matured myself and became more enlightened- it literally helped me out during the bad times where I had no self-esteem and thoughts of intentional hurt ran through my head. Its very weird, I know. Normally shows are used for entertainment, but Avatar definately helped me a lot. It also inspired me to develop my characters in wolf roleplay, actually digging into my once evil character to become the misunderstood fellow with actually convincing motives. Also, I improved on my typing abilities speculating with a friend of mine. Friends- yes, I made friends with similar interests! All in all, Avatar has been a major obsession and love in my life- it impacted my world tremendously. And no words can dearly describe any inspiration, any devotion, I truely have.
On the topic about Avatar violence once again, there's that subtle mention because of its rating. But I don't think the creators intended for Aang to be a revengeful type of character. It's part of his personality and duty to do no lethal harm (to his control). How can he do that? Isn't he mad that the Fire Nation wiped out his entire culture? Yes, but he has a tranquil mind before revenge. He's a kid, for one thing. Maybe he did have revengeful thoughts, but in his character, he's much more mature than that. It simply doesn't settle with him. No 'but's can change that; unless those revengeful thoughts cloud over compassion- he loves the world. If [and once] Ozai doesn't approve of this and still wants to eliminate him, Aang WILL react. He's not stupid nor naive. He'll fight back. He just believes he can give others an opportunity before calling himself a murderer.
Nutshell of everything above:
-I love Avatar with a passion that burns like a thousand suns and more.
-Revenge is not in the young Avatar's nature. Period. Done.
