How come Avatar doesn't reveal the character's last name?

    Why isn't there any black people in the Avatar world? Is it because the creators are Canadian?

    lol I doubt that. But hey I got a question why is it that both katara and her bro are dark skinned when they come from the south pole?

    There are no black people because everyone is asian.

    Katara and Sokka look the way they do because they're based off Inuit culture.

    why do they need to? we can easily recognize all the characters. theres only one avatar on the planet at a time (unless there were twin avatars )

    No one has last names but Toph.

    Athough having said that when they make up aliases on the spot they have a habit of adding last names, and then Katara plays along.

    Aang: I'm Gonsu...Pipinpaddlopsicopolis...the third!
    Katara: Hi, June Pipinpaddlopsicopolis.

    and..

    Sokka: Fire, Wang Fire, this is my wife, Sapphire.
    Katara: Hi, Sapphire Fire.

    In Japan, the Royal Family never had a family name due to traditional and spiritual reasons, but the feudal lords did. So if you conclude that the Fire Nation is based primarily on Japanese culture, then the Fire Nation royal family has no last name due to spiritual and traditional reasons.

    "My name is Zuko, son of Ozai and Ursa, crown prince etc. etc."

    I think it's like ancient times, where their second name come from the place they lived, or well, I dunno, but I'm sure they just DON'T have second names, no one cares about that XD
