Avatar: The Last Airbender Forums

Nickelodeon (ended 2008)

Has the show ever made you cry/made you feel emotions you can't explain?

Has it?

I, personally, cannot pinpoint an exact event or episode as almost every episode has made me feel an incredible amount of emotions. It's amazing to me that this show has taken me on an emotional journey throughout its duration more than any other television program or form of entertainment. Share you thoughts on this.

as much as i liked the show, it never made me cry. mabye i didnt get as attached to the charachters as you guys did, or maybe its because the story was predictable enough that i kinda knew what would happen before it did. the finale was very emotional, but it didnt bring me to tears or anything like that.

I got strange feelings I coudn't explain whenever I saw toph in her bathing suit.

My dad said it's all part of becoming a man, i was wondering when it would happen being 34 and all.

Well, when the show ended I felt some sadness, but I never cried or anything...When I think back to watching the first couple of episodes (I was watching the premiere) wayyyyy back in Feb. of 2005 and knowing that the show came that far and was that great but over, it does make me feel sad, but again, I don't cry.

    There's a lot actually.

Way back in 2005, I was interested in the show. The trailer looked interesting, but of course I missed its premiere. The first episode I watched was The Southern Air Temple. I was impressed. When Aang saw that the Air Nomads were dead that made me feel kind of sad. (I was not obsessive at the time.) And then I also remember seeing The Storm before I was obsessive too. That REALLY got me impressed. It was when I got obsessed by mid Season Two that I started to feel an emotional connection, especially to Aang. The Crossroads of Destiny end...I think I cried and I couldn't believe my eyes. They came along Season Three...*sigh* nine months later. The Awakening was amazing. Basically, all the crazy emotional scenes from then on got me (plus the ones from Seasons One-Two).

And of course, what made me cry the most is the kiss at the end of the series. It was so perfect and happy, and then it panned up and said, "The End." Then I got really, really sad. Then the final end credits with the whole new music...

If emotions you can't explain include dragging yourself across the floor hysterically for 15 minutes, then yes. I had a complete mental breakdown after the season two finale...

And yeah, I've cried during Avatar many times. It has a way of just getting to you.

Yes it has and I'm not too manly to admit it (BTW nice to see I'm not the only person dad-age posting here!). I watched with my kids at first and then got hooked. I never got upset for the entire three years of the show until the end of the last episode. Don't know if it was because Aang and Katara finally got together, or because the show is ending, or because the gang will be going their separate ways, probably a mix of all three. Somehow even though they are cartoons you get attached to the personalities of the characters. But whatever the reason, it's 3 days later and I'm still depressed/obsessed. Hopefully all of the postings will convince the creators to change their minds and put together a book 4 Air.

I know same here. I would be able to watch this show all day long, even if I already saw all the episodes. Ya, I started crying for no reason the day after the finale. I think it was a mix of sleep deprivation and sadness from the show ending. It sucks that its over. I was like obsessed with the show. haha. At least I still have my House M.D., Psych, and Burn Notice.

I have cried alot during Avatar. I have held it in even more though. Every time Aang and
Katar kissed or something romantic happened, i got this prickly ticklish wave through my body. I felt this the most when Aang was taking Ozai's bending, he almost lost, then he burst out and took his bending. It was just the suden surpise cuz i was like "OSHI- AANGS'A GUNNA LOSE HIS BENDING!!!!!111!!1!!!"

My eyes welled up when i saw the kiss and then, "The End" just got me bawling.

Now i'm just friggin mad cuz its over >.>

THIS SHOW WAS HE BEST SHOW AVAILABLE ON NICK AND I DON'T SEE WHY THEY HAD TO MAKE IT COME TO AN END, EVEN THOUGH THE MOVIE IS COMING OUT ,I SILL WANT NEW EPISODE , NEW CONFLICTS AND CHARACTERS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN Nick FOR LETTING AN AMAZING SHOW LIKE THAT END.

I know, that was a beautiful moment. I am man enough to admit i shed a tear. Probably because Iroh is my favorite character.
