I know, I really want a high-def version of the trailer!! But, I'll probably end up waiting until I at least have Boiling Rock before I take a stab at something else. You have no idea how mad my mom was when I told her I made another trailer. She was like, "Didn't you just make a video?" Me: "Yeah, 3 weeks ago..." Mom: "You can't keep doing this, Raven..." Me: *in my head* Try and stop me beast!! I mean seriously, no respect. She just doesn't understand... sigh... |

O.k. my mind does not compute what you just said. Has she SEEN your work? Omg. She should be like buying you special video and editing equipment and should be looking into exclusive art schools to hone your talents. Sorry I'm a Mom and if you were my daughter I would encourage you to make as many vids as you could stand. You have a sublime gift. That much is indisputable.

Wow, I googled 'tomtitan avatar' and found this: http://clearwater04.deviantart.com/art/Ninjabewbs-by-Tomtitan-78073328 /flattery Someone with a DA account needs to comment there and say I'm flattered. Oh, and that Dub The Framegrab wasn't my idea originally. |

Guh...parents don't understand when it comes to these kinds of passions, unfortunately. Especially if it has to do with technology they really don't understand. My parents get mad because I'm always on my laptop...they don't realize that I'm actually writing stories, or researching drawing techniques, or studying videos, that ultimately help me get better skill-wise. |
Lisa might disagree.

She used to passively support it. I gave her the money for Sony Vegas and said "I need this program." She ordered it for me, probably not knowing entirely what it was. She's seen some of my stuff, but I don't show them to her anymore because I know it just makes her uncomfortable, and leads to awkward comments when it's over. She's never seen the show and has blatantly refused to watch it, which is incredibly frustrating. Oh well, I have friends who like it, so it's all good. If I ever succeed in this kind of field she'll have Avatar entirely to thank for it.

Is your mom the only one being like that, Rav?

Well, not really, it was on, and mom decided to tolerate it, then found herself actually liking the show and has now seen up to 313. |

Well, no one in my family will watch it. I don't really connect with my stepdad and my dad thinks it's dumb. Friends are good though. It's just inexplicably traumatizing when we go to visit relatives or something and dad will say "Oh, you should see what Raven does all day..." *sarcasm*. UGH! I GET THAT IT'S A KID SHOW BUT IT ROCKS OK!?!?!?

Ugh. Totally see where you're coming from. Neither of my parents care for the shows I watch. And you know, the thing is, Avatar honestly ISN'T a kid's show, besides all of the slapstick humor. It started off as one, or at least it seemed to...but honestly, who the heck writes a story about a 12-year-old boy who has his entire nation slaughtered and has to save the world from a psycho power-hungry maniac and his deceptive, no-conscience daughter? It gets incredibly dark (c'mon, Aang nearly gets KILLED), and I'm actually surprised Nick considers it a kids show to begin with.
And that's why parents are left to do their own thing while we fanatics bond with friends and cyberfriends alike.

God it's the exact opposite at our house...our daughter has her own computer and does what she likes and our kids get in trouble if they speak during Avatar episodes. Recently my son said he think he likes Ben 10 MORE than Avatar and there was a collective GASP at the dinner table. LOL
I understand why Litl_swimmer feels this way. I think all kids feel that way about their parents.
Case in point my daughter is 15 and has a TV.com account and lurks amongst you all but she doesn't want anyone to know she's "Lisa31468's daughter." LOL
I don't think Avatar can be written off as just a kid's show. Just because it comes in an animated package doesn't condemn it to being trivial or only a juvenile comedy.
There are LOTS of adults who absolutely love Avatar. Truthfully we don't at all fit into the 9-14 year old boys demographic Nick sells advertising for Avatar for.
