I noticed that each of the four nations, in addition to representing the four basic elements, also represent the four states of matter: Air (Gas), Water (Liquids), Earth (Solids), and Fire (Plasmas). It would be interesting if they discovered that their bending was only limited to the state of matter associated with their element, like Katara bending liquid metals like mercury, Toph bending iron, although that would kinda ruin the underlying element theme of the show and would violate the rule that metals cannot be directly 'bent', although technically they are minerals like rocks.

it was shown in "imprisoned" that earthbenders cant bend metal or man altered material, a weakness the fire nation??captilizes on by??making their ships out of metal??

That also explains how fire Benders can bend lighting, it's Plasma

    I don't

Personally, i'm too clueless to think up any of that so you guys are all on a different page than me. I just watch the show and obsess over it, not read between the lines...lol

Lol, same here. Hee, hee. But that is an interesting observation with the different states of matter. And it makes sense, but I don't think they'll go too in-depth with it.

Like I said: I saw none of this. I stay away from science much as possible.

I hate it when that happens.I said Toph+Zuko and everbody started to call me sick. And now you see people who love the ship.It really annoys me when that happens.

People have spoilers in places they shouldnt be and the secret of the FN if what people say is true is no longer a secret.Even throu I will be somewhat lomesome(thank you notreallyimaginaryfriendbuteasestwaytodescribe)avatar will be a surprise.Even if the spoilers stop for the normal episodes if there is only 3 seasons then I wont come on here at then end of the tv show. But then it will be harder to leave. So I might just leave now.

Water benders can bend three states of mater, water, ice and steam. That blows your theory all on its own. That and fire isn't plasma. I cant remember exactly how it works but im fairly certain its a gas. Also if u try to use wikipedia against me here it wont work. I've seen the article before and its wrong. *Wikipedia can be altered by anyone with an account and sometimes the information is incorrect.

lightning nor any other kind of firebending is not plasma-this state of matter is COMPLETELY differnt

I can imagine fire being a gas. Aren't stars just really big/dense balls of gas?

Actually, no. First off, fire is NOT matter. It is light and heat ENERGY. Not matter. 2nd, stars are the only place matter in the plasma state can be found, it dosn't happen on earth, and probably no planet, it's too hot. Stars are big balls of plasma.

Well then my eighth grade science teacher is an idiot cause he told me lightning and fire were plasma

    So what is plasma?

Obviously wrong. Lighting is plasma. Its the only form of plasma on earth. I can actually tell you two things about fire. It is an exothermic chemical reaction that creates visible light energy and heat energy caused by reacting GASES. But is it a gas? Actually, fire is partially plasma as well. Though its a very small portion, like avogadro's number with a negative twenty three. If you want proof read the wikipedia article on fire. I normally dont trust the site, but im majoring in physics and can tell you that that info is accurate. And read the entire article, im reading this in the science of fire section. More places to find plasma include those little orb thingys that look like they have lightning bolts in them. But thats manmade and doesnt count.

So my theory that firebender bend plasma is kind of right?

Its more gas. The amount of plasma is basically null and void. It would be like throwing a pea into the sun and calling it a vegetable
