At the end of "The Northern Air Temple," the fire nation soldiers find the hot air balloon and the general says "this defeat will be the beginning of many victories." Well so far we have failed to see a single victory come to pass for the fire nation from that defeat. Is it being saved for the third season, or has the hot air balloon discovery by the fire nation just been forgotten?

I'm pretty sure that there was at least one other possible major forgotten thing like this that I wanted to bring up here and now I can't think of it...

I don't think that they have forgotten it. They are probably just saving it for when the Fire Nation is invaded. Or when the really great battles occur. Just wait, I have a feeling that they will use it

Good point...I wondered how the FN troops could have marched in on that thin path.

That probably IS how they conguered omashu, I thought the drill was going to be a war blimp or something. We probably will see it next season.

I'll have to agree.?? The only thing that negates the possibility of the balloons being used is that Bumi gave up the city without a fight.?? So that makes me wonder if it was the balloons or was it something else?

What if they already used the ballons??? Why??would the Earth King's guards have surface to air rocks? Not exactly many things in the Avatar world that can fly ya know What if they tried the??war ballons but got shot down and then they switched to the drill?

That's feasible too but it is also possible that they just had the surface to air rocks in case of airbenders attacking too.?? Remember that this is a world that has been around for a long time and we do not know all of their experiences.??
I think the balloons will come into play in the next season.?? The writers seem to remember things that they have written and will ensure that they tie up the loose ends.

No way has it been forgotten. I didn't really expect to see it until the 3rd season anyway. They are probably planning something big with it, like it's their next plan behind the drill. We definitely will see it in the 3rd season, I think.

I think I get it. It is the same thing with Aang learning bending.

    BENDING:
Chapter 9: The Waterbending Scroll, Season 1

Chapter 9: Bitter Work, Season 2

He learns his bending in those chapters. Maybe Chapter 9 in Fire he'll learn fire.

For his theory about 13, it makes sense.

Season 1, Chapter 13:??The Blue Spirit

Season 2, Chapter 13: The Drill
