So at around 5:30 AM in the morning you look on Youtube for Avatar episodes? That kind of sucks. You have it much worse then my friends in Tottori Japan who get it at 3:00 PM (editing and sending the episode and sending it off takes time) Saturday.

People in Europe tend to know 2-4 languages, due to the proximity of other countries that speak different languages. English is usually the second language they learn.

That's just the thing though. I'm jealous that they learn second, third, fourth.... languages at an early age. Knowing English alone sucks. i hate the idea that foreigners see English-speaking people as arrogant people who impose their language on the world. I???m learning how to speak Mandarin now because of that misconception.

I've been on??a tour round UK universities to see my friends and there are so many freshers from foreign countries who can speak fluent english who don't even study it anymore - they'er doing modern history or mechanics or whatever. We native speakers are bone idle and don't know a thing about other languages.

Exactly how I felt. I tried to cram a bunch of languages classes into my schedule this year, but I'm only taking Chinese and French right now.

I'm a patient guy And what a great episode, to bad it's only like 20 minutes long... 14 days is a long wait for just 20 minutes of greatness. Oh well, back to being patient...

It is never a good idea to cram a ton of different languages and try to learn them all at once, since you will only half ass learn them. Unless you are talking about Spanish,Italian, Portuguese all at once, since those languages are very similar. I use to know German, and some Japanese, (speaking not reading) and Greek but if you don't use it you lose it and I don't really remember much.

If you live in the country picking up the language is easy as hell because of the total immersion thing. But as I said, if you don't use it often you forget how to do it. Since speaking a language and something like riding a bike are very different.

I take French and am semi-confused. But I heard it's easier to learn a language if you like in a country that speaks it and have to learn how to use it. Since i'm just motivated by trying to get an advanced diploma so i can got to college and not suck at life I take it. But i love other cultures and wish that some stuck up We're-all-that Americans would stop ruining it for the rest of us who don't think we're the light of the world.

Yeah, I think that here in the United States we don't interact with foreign languages that often, so we???re not motivated to learn them when we???re children.

Sure, we have a very diversified country, with a variety of different peoples and backgrounds, but usually after a few generations we loose our native tongues. I???m Qu??b??cois Canadian, Irish, German, and Russian (a mut), but my family hasn???t spoken any of those languages since my grandparents were infants.

Anyways, I???m curious to see what Avatar sounds like in different languages, anyone know where I can hear that?
