How about they introduce the entire periodic table to the show and we'll find out which elements are bendable.

That would be cool except that the avatar world scientists think that everything, even erosion, was just done by angry spirits or something. Mostly psuedoscience.

duo the orginallity of this topic i shall still answer

as i said before the EK was smaller then and the lightning nation controlled that place there where very close allies with the FN and past techniques??trough each other however on one day the EK attacked the LN and the FN didn't answered there call for help for some reason and so the EK won the war and tooks there land (any other reasons why the EK is so big) and so times past and the techniques of advanced lighting bending gets lost but the FN wasn't sitting quiet and raised an army strong enough to crush the other nations and on the day they wanted to attack the siege sozins comet??camed they all thought this was the last gift of the spirits from the LN

now what do you think ^^ nice story eh?

Your idea is interesting. Remember in 'avatar day' avatar kyoshi said she killed that cruel earth kingdom conqueror. Maybe he conquered lightning Nation.

I find it really sad when??topics like this became degenerated by folks who have not done the research on??Avatar as a whole.??Anyone who has??even the smallest amount of knowledge on the roots of Avatar??knows that the??basis of the show??comes from many different beliefs like??Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddhism. In each one of these beliefs the elements??are different. Far too many times in similar??topics I've seen people make a big fuss about??others wanting to EXPAND on the universe of ATLA.

Now in some cases people have speculated on??the out come of the actual show and other times people are just trying to add to the phenomenon that is ATLA. More often than not they are told "No that won't work there are??only four elements, the show will be too complicated." Maybe those people should think about the Star Wars and Star Trek Universes.??

Without??authors that are also fans these universes would not be what they are today. I've??said all this to say that??when a concept??is brought up about??theories, fanfics, or expansion of the ATLA universe we all should be a little more open minded about ideas that can add to the world of Avatar.

In all honesty, they've made it through almost 2 seasons without adding extra benders to the fray. If they're only going 3 seasons they won't have time to add more. If they run for 5, then they'll add metal bending, heart bending and sanity bending.

Look it is not always about adding to the show but about adding and expanding to the world/universe of Avatar as a whole. I don't think everyone here is opposed to expanding on what the creators have already given us but it seems that in the Avatar community (here at TV.com at least) there seems to be some sort of misunderstanding when it comes to new ideas about the world/universe of Avatar. 99.99% of the time when someone brings up an idea concerning Avatar it is automatically assumed that it has to pertain to the show and not just the world/universe of Avatar. I think if people here in the TV.com Avatar forums can get past the idea of new ideas not only being for the show more ideas for stories??will be better accepted.

well....yeah, maybe i should have been more specific. i meant vines located in places like rainforests and swamps, where the climate is much more wet. i figure that because of the environment it would have a higher water content than other plants; i mean, compare a tropical plant to one in the desert. you would assume that the tropical one would have a higher water content, but i don't have a source or solid proof so you can pretty much discard what i said. anyway, plantbending is still part of waterbending because those were waterbenders manipulating it.

*Zuko and Aang are about to fight*
    Zuko: Come and face me!
*Aang quickly folds up a billboard sign and sends it after Zuko*
    Aang: Papergami! I choose you!
    Papergami: Pap-AAA!
    *Zuko burns the origami creature*
    Zuko: ...

Doesn't sound like your being very open minded.

Why should people have to know everything about Avatar before they can post their ideas here, why can't they simply watch the show and develop ideas from their on. A??part of people learning more about the show is coming here and discussing it among others and thus broadening their knowledge of Avatar, so you saying you find it sad and it degenerates threads like this is highly inappropriate.

You don't see anyone shoting laser beams from their eyes do you? Light could be another "element".
Light would be too far on one end of the scale for them to put as a bending skill, since the show is about the balance with regard to the elements controlled in bending. The same would also go for shadow or darkness: light and shadow are too polar, there's no balance to each of them alone.
