Just pointing out that Avatar is not on Entertainment Weekly's top 10 DVD sales list this week. However, that is with ALL DVD sales, so I'd like to know how it really did on its own and not compared to other movie blockbusters.

At my Wal-Mart, they have been playing the DVD consistently on the TV's! I was really happy when I went to go buy the DVD (there was only one left). I took a picture of the TV's playing WAT.

You can check thenumbers.com for DVD sales but the most recent week they have data for is just before book 3 was released.

This is simply the next installment of "Why buy the video if ..."

Back in the day, people said, "Nobody will buy the video (or go see the movie in some cases) if they can just watch it on cable." Yet still, the movies sold.

Then "Nobody will buy the video if they can just rent it from Blockbuster." Yet still, the movies sold.

Then it was "Nobody will buy the video if they can watch it practically whenever they want anyway on pay per view." Yet still, the movies sold.

Then it was "Nobody will buy the video if they can watch it literally anytime they want with cable on demand." Yet still, the movies sold.

Now, it's "Nobody will buy the video if they can just download it off the internet." Yet still, the movies sell.
