    What's with the dragon theme?

In Zuko's 'nightmare', Iroh is the red dragon and Azula is the blue dragon.?? Why?

Also, Avatar Roku rides on a dragon.

Probably nothing, but just thinking of things, waiting until season 3 begins!

Iroh is the Dragon of the West because of his ability to breath fire. As for the others, I have no idea.

Maybe Azula is the blue dragon because of the blue flames.

Good question. I doubt there is any true symbolism in Zuko's dream. Roku's animal guide was just a dragon from the fire nation just like Appa is Aang's.??

it's really not that complicated... it's a chinese (or is it japanese?) type show and dragons are a sacred mythical creature (or something like that) in china

Could've gone in "Ask A question" the dragons are very vital to chinese culture, which Avatar is heavily based, pretty much it. Oh actually the broader term would be "Eastern dragon" due to the fact that it appear in an innumerable amount of cultures, however the Chinese dragon is the most prominent Asian dragon due to the fact that China was once the considered the center of Asia and all nations around (India, Japan, etc) emulated several of its aspects. ...Yeah.

If you want to relate it to chinese folklore then consider that in China they believe dragons to be good luck.?? However I think in the Avatar show I would have to agree that they represent Yin and Yang.

Zuko needs to acquire a dragon soooooooo bad.???? C'mon, there has to be at least ONE living dragon in the Avatar world somewhere!?? That is one thing that has always bothered me.?? Aang says in Winter Solstice I eppy that the dragon was Roku's animal guide, "the way Appa is to me."????That means that the dragons in the Avatar world are or were real, not just spiritual/mythological creatures.?? So why don't we see any??? Surely the Fire Nation would want them!?? I want to see a Zuko-dragon, Aang-bison air chase (and possible mid-air bending dogfight)!?? That would be THE ULTIMATE.??

It is possible that dragons are wild animals, not tamed like Appa. Roku could ride it becuase of his Avatar nature/spirit connection thing, but the dragons won't help anyone else.

In Crossroads of Destiny, Iroh and Azula speaking to Zuko trying to persuade him, it reflects the dragons from Zuko's dream.

I believe the blue dragon (speaking in Azula's voice) represents Zuko's old life and old way of thinking. Azula represents the fire nation ideal. She's talented, cunning, devious, ambitious, and cold.

Iroh is represented in the red dragon and represents the new way of thinking. Iroh is compassionate though strong, humble, trusting, friendly, loyal, and smart. He represents a new path to Zuko.

In his dream, Zuko is conflicted over his life. On one hand he has the Fire Nation mentality (Blue Dragon) and on the other Iroh's mentality (the red dragon)

Just my interpretation. Also, Iroh does say the fever is in his soul (or something like that)

The fever was the physical manifestation of the spiritual struggle Zuko was having with himself, something was gonna give, and he apparently gave into the blue dragon's side.

I'm more interested in whether or not we'll see a dragon in the show. Cuz of Roku seems they did exist, and I bet they still do, maybe they dwell in the prehistoric like jungles of the Fire Nation...
