Fire Benders did not learn from dragons. They learned from the SUN just as Water Benders learned from the MOON. As for the dragons I have no clue although they are cool.

No they learned from dragons. Iroh quote "Fire comes from the breath." Dragons BREATH FIRE. Last time I checked the sun didn't breath. The sun only boosts their power becuase it is a huge flaming ball (just like the comet).

Oh wow, yeah. The fire bad bad guys did win (battle-war thing) in the end didn't they? Anyway, in terms of "Dragons taught em. Nuhuh, they learned it from the sun" basically its all speculation until the creators finally decide to confirm it. And if it anything like that "is bending genetic or what?" thing, they'll make it so that everybody wins. Eh. Another Chinese dragon fact. Unlike the fire-breathing European dragon, Chinese dragons breath sheng chi, or the "essence of life", and they're much more relate to water overall than fire. However the one seen one the show appears to be a hybrid (yep another) of the two. It has the body of the Chinese but the wings of a European. See, right there. Everybody wins.

Man that's a thought that NEVER even occured to me...European dragons breathed fire..not the Japanese ones...but I say that Firebenders learned from the Sun same way Waterbenders learned from the moon...which kinda parallels Fire and Water as total opposites...same with Earth and Airbenders...they both learned to bend from animals but Earthbenders learned from underground dwelling moles and Airbenders from flying bison(you'd think a bird of some kind??would make more sense wouldn't it?)

The fever was the physical manifestation of the spiritual struggle Zuko was having with himself, something was gonna give, and he apparently gave into the blue dragon's side.

I'm more interested in whether or not we'll see a dragon in the show. Cuz of Roku seems they did exist, and I bet they still do, maybe they dwell in the prehistoric like jungles of the Fire Nation...

I dont believe Zuko gave into either. I think they both still exist inside him, just that only one can be dominant at a time.

Chinese dude. Nah I'm just messin. Let's see uh,??yeah??the thing with birds is (avoiding zoology and biophysics and all that science crap here), quite simply, they don't using airbending, whereas Bisons do. Plus this is Avatar, home to poodle-monkeys, panda-monsters,??and adorable??an adorable??little??girl who can purvelize??solid metal with her??bare hands. I mean??after all that, flying cows just seem to go great with in there, ya'know.

it is not confirmed in the show what the firebenders learned firebending from, so until then, we can speculate but cannot be sure. i think, though, that firebenders learned from the sun because fire and water and opposites and the waterbenders learned from the moon. just like air and earth are opposites and they learned from bending animals. also, when Iroh said fire comes from the breath, he meant physical and mental control over the fire, as in restraint, unlike Zuko was demonstrating at that time. in other words, he was not referring to dragons

speaking of dragons if Roku had one shouldnt they still be around? I mean it's not like the Bison's who were eliminated.
With the debate about Global Warming and other environmental concerns throughout my life time, I suspect that dragons fell extinct when Sozen and his firebending warriors tapped the comet. They brought the Strange Fire back to the Fire Nation, thus making it too hot for the dragons to adapt.

Jeong Jeong said, "Feel the heat of the sun. It is the greatest source of fire. Yet, it is in complete balance with nature." It does sound similar to Yue's comment, "The legends say the moon was the first waterbender. Our ancestors saw how it pushed and pulled the tides and learned how to do it themselves." The sun heats the solar system (across the vacuum of space) using radiation. Radiation still exists on earth, even though earth is not a vacuum. The first firebenders must have found a way to observe radiation patterns, then learn how to mimic it themselves.
