I was watching a couple reruns of the season 1 of avatar, and i happened to see chpater 13 the blue spirit. And as i was watching the blue spirit (zuko) fight the fire nation guards, i suddenly kind of wished that avatar wasnt a??kids show.??i mean??avatar would be a little more exciting if the war??is like how it is in real life, where??we can actually see ppl die. how can zuko use 2 sharp, steel broad swords, slash them at guards, and not kill a single one of them. and there are never any physical punches or kicks to the body, and there hasnt been a single scene in which we actually saw someone get hit hard with a weapon directly in contact with the body. an example would be "jet" in the beginning, where the archer guy could have just shot his arrows at the firebenders face or body, but instead he just shot the weapons out of their hands, and thats probably why some of da fights in avatar arent as exciting as they could be. i love avatar no matter what and i do love the show right now and what the creators and staff have done with it,??but i was just wondering this, so what do you guys think?

i actually have given this some thought, but i guess avatar is a kids show and it cant be too violent. ive never actually noticed that no person in avatar has actually gotten hit in the body directly with a weapon, cause in the blue spirit, we only heard zuko's sword making contact with armor, not actually seeing it. but i do see where ur going.

As kids shows go, these a pretty violent one. Scars, death, there??is even genocide. I think it's fine the way it is.

Never reallly noticed how thet never show direct contact with body. They also never attack the face. But since most fights ae all about bending so who gives a crap. But it does sometines take away from the peril you know Mai not goona hit anyone with those knives right.

Of topic but this anime called bleach has the same problem. It has one guy pull out his sword tne he attacks the other guy offcreen while the screen turns to the sky and you see blood splashing on the screen or an arm or a leg or something. They barely ever show the guy actually getting hit. Not to mention sometimes the Anime will do horrible edits to the manga. Taking out the blood where tatsuki was being shot and replacing it with green goo and taking out the bleading from her head. Even adult cartoons do this and I notice it here more then avatar.

Mabey if??this was on Avatar was on cartoon netwok they could show violence. On toonami they could have blood and minor swearing. And on [adult swim] they could have anything they fukin' want outside of repeated use of F word uncensored and explict sex scenes.

Perssonally, I was amazed about how much they left uncut in Naruto. That that??I minded, but it's a one time thing. And I thought Bleach was going to show on Adult Swim. As for the manga-anime difference, yes they do cut out blood in the anime.

I don't think I would like this show so much if it was on Cartoon Network and A.S. Avatar is??my favorite??show on Nick??because of the style and characters, plot, etc. It's really the only one of its type on nick. Its specialness would go away.

Well, in "The Avatar Returns", Sokka's boomarang hits Zuko directly on the head. He has a helmit on, but it's still direct contact, isn't it?

Never. I love it the way it is, and I found the Blue Spirit one of the most exhilirating episodes I've ever seen.

the only thing they could do to make it less of a kids show would be to show someone getting punched in the face maybe...seriously if anyone says this is "too violent" for a kids show don't tell them about Naruto...got cold blooded killers at the age of 12...

Again, look at Disney's Gargoyles, it appealed to the younger demographic with the action, teens with the romance and character development, and adults with the story.

If you want it to be less of a kids show just to have more violence, then what's the point of the show. The show is able to stand on it's own even without violence, it's got so much other great stuff to back it up. If you allow it to have excessive violence, the great story wouldn't be as promenant as it is now. All you'd see is blood and stuff.

Exactly Avatar has been doing well even without violance I mean living off the streets and begaing for survival doesn't sound exiting at first but look how muc appeal it was given.

I second that! Or third it, or whatever. Because of its audience, Avatar can't resort to crude forms of entertainment, and therefore must entertain by plot and characters alone.

Much to the writer's credit, they are yet to insert any of the lame/gross gags that plague other kid's shows nowadays, even though they certainly could!

Have you seen Avatar fan art? Some of the themes in those pictures are pretty explicit .

I think Avatar is fine just the way it is. I don't want it turning into some mindless anime show.

I know exactly what you mean. Example; The Warriors of Kyoshi, Imprisoned, The Waterbending Scroll, Jet, The Blue Spirit, The Northern Airtemple, THE SIEGE OF THE NORTH , and that's just season 1! ah well.

EDIT: And i dont mean i want swearing or blood and gore. Just... a bit of reality in the battle scenes. How can you fight a war where none of the soldiers die?!?

All I ask for is for Azula (if she must die) and Ozai to die by anything but falling down a cliff. If they go Disney on me about their deaths I'll be pissed.
