To be perfectly honest, I think that it could go either way. I'm inclined to believe that she appreciated that he liked her (although she seemed suprised), but she's going to gently explain to him that she just doesn't like him that way, regardless of feelings she might develope for anyone else. Her reaction, over the course of the two episodes, it confused me.**shrug** And I'm sorry, but saying that Kataang should happen simply because Aang deserves/has-earned her isn't a good one. Love should be based on how happy it makes one person, and if Aang were to be head-over-heels for Katara while she was just luke-warm, I don't think it would make a balanced relationship. So, If kataang does happen, the writers are either going to have to heat-up Katara by destroying her little brother view of Aang and making her attracted to him in the next 9 episodes, OR they horribly mis-handeled the entire Kataang relationship. Just the whole "Aang's the main hero and has earned love" thing bothers me. Love shouldn't have to be earned....imo |

She does love him, and, in a way, everyone "earns" it. It makes sense in my head, but I don't know how to explain it. It'll all come down to the moment of truth between them, I guess. That'll probably happen after he defeats the Fire Lord and he finally tells her that he loves her. Then, we'll have to see how she reacts. Hopefully, she'll say she loves him, too. Which, she probably does. She's just not as obvious as Aang. For all we know, she could love him with the burning passion of a thousand firebenders. But she knows how to hide it. |

I don't think we can say for sure if Kataang is going to happen just yet, we need to see Katara's reaction after all these other events have set in. the shock could be a possible explaination as to why she didn't break the kiss, and likewise that sideways look afterward could have just been contemplating him not coming back rather than her not being interested in him like that. when they meet afterwards it was in pretty dire situations, they were about to leave everyone to be captured and aang was seriously down. That wouldn't have been the time to bring up their little side-drama. She would have comforted him either way. So, Kataang is still the highest possibility, but we can't say its set in stone yet. Zutara is still a way out their ship. Last we know of, Katara hates Zuko, and Zuko is clearly very serious about Mai. To have Zuko get over Mai, and have Katara suddenly get over her ill feelings towards Zuko is probably to much to squeeze into 9 eps. |

I can't really add much more to the examination itself. I agree with it. Katara was surprised by Aang taking the initiative, and she kissed him back. She was left in a happy daze as she watched him leave. She was happy that he shared her feelings; the tension and fear of rejection was no longer standing between them. The loss of this tension also gave her something to fight for. If she survived, than he would survive the battle as well so that they could explore what the kiss means. There's sure to be more tension, but it will be a different kind than we've seen so far. While I'm not a girl, Katara's speech and actions leading up to the kiss state that she was trying to admit her feelings to him. She told him she no longer saw him as the boy in the ice but as a man and equal. Moving her hair out of her face is usually a good indication of attraction. She is essentially making her face easier to see and drawing attention to it because she wants him to look at her. Shy girls are depicted with their hair in their face for the same reason; they are trying to hide behind it. |

as omoikanend001 said, her sad face probably had more to do with Aang's speech of maybe not coming back...didn't you see her blush and her watching aang fly away, oblivious to the fact that it was time for them to go? |
don't think I want zutara to happen, but this thread is mostly kataang shippers so I will just sort of level the playing field. Zuko is following them in his "war balloon of destiny" and we know how that the creators said katara will end up with one of them. But zuko will problety be ridiculed by the gaang and go off to find his mommy. So based on all this info I believe kataang will happen BUT zutarians will fight till the end for there ship.
WHO WANTS KATAANG COOKIES?
Ok, I've got to say from my perspective, Kataang is a sure fire thing now.Yes, I am a Kataang shipper, but let's be honest here. It's kinda bean really obvious that Aang and Katara were heading towards some sort of confession since the start of season three. So yes, though my opinion is biased, I am going with what some people are saying in that Katara's actions bluntly stated that she is into Aang, as he is her...uh...I think my wording was a bit off or confusing there...heh sorry...What I meant was that Katara acted the way a girl would act before she confesses romantic feelings towards someone. During the kiss she did kiss back, but was pretty dazed and surprised so of course she was out of it. At the end, well, would you throw yourself into the arms of your love interest and start making out right after your dad and friends sacrificed their freedom for your safety and the sake of your future?
Oh, but the Haru-stache does pose a threat to Kataang's future. lol j/k

the writers will go crazy with giving us surprises in the 90 min movie for end of book 3, Azula realizes the errors of her ways, and steals Aang from Katara; disappointed Katara turns to Teo for comfort, and Ty lee is able to steal Zuko from Mai, so Mai turns to Sokka, and Suki disappointed turns to Haru, and poor Toph decides to run off with the lovable old man Iroh oh, and June appears again and asks Ran Shao Ren(Combu man)to marry her, and start a bounty hunter agency |
