no, thats the first i heard that in months

Actually, I hear that all the time, just another way people use to justify their ships

Just like the "Katara is motherly" argument. That's the thing she's motherly with everyone. If she dates Zuko she'll be like that too. And being motherly with Aang reminds me of couples I've met and also of most marriages in sitcoms.
WOW. I've been saying that for weeks. Some people still don't believe that Katara wold be Zuko's mother too though.

I'm a big sister of 6 and 2 cousins. Ask my friends and they'll tell you how "big sister" I am, especially my best female friends for who I bake cookies and make her work for them. Some things are just part of you.

Zuko is the "tortured soul" type. The basis of Zutara is that Katara can "heal" him. Wouldn't that in a way look motherly? "Aaww Zuko, tell me all about it. I'm here for you. You've grown so much from the bastard I used to know. I'm so proud of you. Don't worry, you'll always have me. I'll be there to take care of you whenever you need me. Thrust me Zuko, I know what's best for you because I love you"

Except for the "bastard" and "Zukos" things, those are things my mom says all the time to us. Doesn't that sound like things that Katara would say in her usual motherly-caring type voice to Zuko(if Zutara's real)/Aang/Sokka so on...?

it's actually a perfectly legitimate argument, since age gaps sharply drop in significance as you get older. particularly when that gap includes puberty. just throwing that out there.

She act a lot more like a mother toward Aang, its so obvious. The best example, is in the Runaway, no wait, the best example is in the whole show !

Did I doubt that? No. It seems more with Aang because the central point of the show is Aang so his relationship with Katara's bound to be the strongest and stand out the most. That doesn't eliminate the fact that Katara's motherly by nature because she had to fill a spot and that became her. Ask Sokka, he said so himself.

Just like I'm the oldest of 6 siblings + 2 cousins and I take care of them so that shows in my relationships with my friends. I said nothing wrong. I didn't disprove any ship. As I said before I know couples where the woman acts motherly and a lot of shows have the "motherly" wife with the clueless husband that needs her.

    Doesn't let me edit.

I just realized that by pointing out Katara's motherly nature, and how it could match with Zuko's, I just helped Zutara since it's that nature what could bring her to care for Zuko as much as Aang.

Crap. Must bury this post under something. I need a shovel.

Let us all consider the Zuko + Katara dynamics for a moment:

Zuko was a bad guy with a good heart.

Katara was a good girl with a good heart.

Zuko turns good and keeps his good heart, and we have a match.

Now let us consider the Aang + Katara dynamics for a moment:

Aang was a good kid with a good heart and no hair.

Katara was a good girl with a good heart.

While aang had hair, we had a match. Now it's back to no match.

    See? My logic is undeniable!!

Donn't mean to be quite so strong, but still you get the idea. Aang gets the VERY LEST of Katara's mothering. Besides that point, MOTHERS don't tell their children they want to kiss them on the lips. There's so many things everyone's said for the longest time. What is in the whole show as of this point, you might ask? Certainly not Zutara.

(this was seriously thought around the 14 century. Edit: It's actually more like the middle ages since "El cantar del mio Cid" and other epics show this aspect of facial hair)

You do realize that hair= manlyness and libido only applies to facial hair. Since both of them lack beard both of them are not really manly and thus unfit to please a woman. Now haru's got something going on there. XD

actually, on of the central themes, if not THE central theme, of avatar is a balance of opposing forces. it's certainly not as if zutara is the quintessence of this scheme, but it certainly fits into it pretty well. if you're a big picture kinda person.

Uhm... your wrong. 10-11 have aired, only 12 not. PS: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW POLL?
they talking in nick network or in Television, online DOTBS has aired already new poll? who ends with Sokka? Ty? Toph? Suki? Azula? someone else?

If you look closely at the beginning of The Eclipse, it says Book 3: Fire Chapter 10: The Day of Black Sun part II: The Eclipse. So drawing conclusions from what nick put for the episode number, chapter 10 is part I and part II put together, which means chapter 11 would be The Western Air Temple.

hm...it does say chapter ten.....that's odd.

That is odd. Every two-part movie like the "Winter Solstice" and "Seige of the North" were counted as seperate episodes.

I think they might have done it as a technicality as they want to make the 2nd DVD to have both 310 and 311

thus DVD2 would have "avatar and the firelord" chapter 6
    "the runaway" chapter 7
    "the puppetmaster" chapter 8
    "nightmares and daydreams" chapter 9
"DOTBS part 1 the invasion and DOTBS part 2 the eclipse" chapter 10

and DVD 3 will have 312 as chapter 12, with no "official" chapter 11(but the eclipse called production 311)

Of course that logic doesn't apply nowadays. But in the middle ages the bigger the beard the more manly you are. That why when one man wanted to humiliate another they would go for the beard as a symbolic castration. I'm talking Spain here, since I've only read Spanish epics.
