Does anyone else think that Ty Lee's overpowered?

    Hey,people have complained for lack of non-bending badasses in the series. First we have Jet and now Ty Lee. I think it balances out.

    If anything, shes actually underpowered as I assume that she is from a wealthy noble type family, who would have gained that status in a society like that of the fire nation by a show of fire bending power. She too, therefore, should have some fire bending skills - if so she would be immense as she could fight from a distance and hand-to-hand.

    You people think TY-LEE, the minorest of foils is overpowered, but no one thinks that Katara isn't some crazy min/maxxed ridiculously powerful girl that doesn't need to be as awesome as she is? Ty-Lee is just a dexterous master of pressure points who goes up against - as someone has said - STORMTROOPERS. Ty Lee is a realistic splash of fun up against tiny gods who throw around the WORLD with thier minds and are for all intents and purposes INFALLIABLE. I mean my god Mary-Sue, do the words inconsistantly overpowered mean anything to you?

    Hey...that rhymed. I should make a song about this.

    OMG She's like one of todays preppy cheerleaders!! Minus the "Take down 40 earthbenders"...And everybody knows those evil, preppy, cheerleader type people...

    I??agree with??master of aeons. Ty Lee is a character designed to do what has not been before and that is a non bender being able to??kick bender butt. While she may seen overpowered, the show spent so long making benders seem so damn powerful, that now anything that can beat them is dubbed as over powerful. I personally felt that it was time that we got some decent non-bender foils.

    Also on a side note I feel that if it wasn't for all the benders they face and the fact that he travels with three absurdly strong benders, Sokka could actually be more than comic relief.

    Ty Lee has never directly beaten Katara in battle, not Aang or Sokka. The first time, Katara had Mai beaten, but she hadn't been focusing on Ty Lee at all, allowing her to get her attacks. The second time, Katara got little to no sleep for nearly a day, while Ty Lee and her companions (although Mai was the actual one that had Katara beat) were at full capacity.

    As for the Terra Team, they were under the command of idiot General Sung, weren't exactly said to be master earthbenders--just skilled, and they might not have even been taking her seriously.

    THe reason why I find her overpowered is that she's the most powerful non-benders so far..

    Actually, I really like her. She's a fun character with abilities that lend themselves to some really interesting fight scenes. Acrobats do all kinds of wild things! I'd like to see an extended fight with Ty-Lee and Sokka completely one on one where he has to adapt to overcome her style and win (sort of like Sanosuke).

    By the way, I have a theory as to why Tai-Lee can't fire bend. SHE'S AN AIRBENDER!!! Think about it. She can jump ridicuosly high and has never shown any fire bending in her fights. Also, just because Tai-Lee might be an airbender doesn't mean that Mai is one also.

    PS: I believe in spiritual bending, not genetic bending. Tai-Lee has the perfect personality for an airbender.

    that was the dumbest thing I ever heard,(the comment about airbending), anyway she is not the most powerful nonbender she could easily be killed by jet or longshot, Jet because the swords he wields(Tigers claw hook swords)do in fact have an edge, jet just reverses them, and longshot could shoot her

    Sano was the name of the monk in Rurouni Kenshin. While I hate the majority of the anime, Sano is an excellent character who is on-a-whole, third rate. But he's driven enough and so brilliant that he keeps up with everyone else (who are pretty much gods with katanas). Anyone know what I'm talking about?

    I LOVE Ty-Lee! HEr character shows to me that you can be kick-ass whithout being a bender and I love how easily amused she is.

    You just assume that Ty Lee will stand there and let them hit her. So I take it you're not sure on how actual combat works: weapons (as well as bending) do not determine victory alone.
