    i believe that the Inuits have such dark skin due to the snow and ice.

    you get a tan from sunlight, right? well, remember light is absorbed and reflected depending on the colour of the object the light is shining on. a green apple would absorb all of the spectrum except green, where green light is reflected. the white shade of the snow doesn't absorb any and reflects all light, and so causes their skin to grow dark easily. that's why you can still have a suntan when you go a skiing trip. ^^

    EDIT: dammit, Absarroth beat me to it. ;_;

    We are to the West! But since Sonar Bangla* was once part of Pakistan, I'll let it lie. Never assume Pakistan is part of India! You'll always hurt a Pakistani's feelings!

    *I think that's Bengali for Beautiful Bangladesh. Not really sure though.

    pakistan gets mad if people say "part of India" than they get mad if someone says "they part of the "Euphrates area" (Iran and countries near it)

    A bit off topic, but may I ask why you have Blaster33456's Sozin's comet protection icon?

    Not exactly. We don't agree, but we don't get "mad" either. But no 'India', please. Decades old rivalry and hard-fought independence and all, if you get my gist.

    We're generally a mix of Indian, Central Asian and Arab culture, and yet we refuse to identify ourselves with either of these. Kind of like an identity crisis .

    Correction: Avatar is inspired by Buddhist and Hindu (but mainly Buddhist) culture. Saudi Arabia is also in Asia. So are Turkey and Russia. --- But on another note, for people who live as far South as the Pole, have you noticed how dark Sokka and Katara's skins are? Probably because the waterbenders originated from tropical areas. Swampbenders, for example. Pure speculation, BTW.
    It doesn't seem to work like that in the avatar world. The tropical area of the Avatar world would be the fire nation and a part of the earth kingdom. But the people from the fire nation have fair skin, at least most of them. Poeple from the water tribes have tan skin, but also have blue or grayish blue eyes. Is there a race in this world with that combination? because I must admit cultures and history is not my strength. My question is... what nation do you think the Guru is from? We know he's not from the Air Nomads but he doesn't fit with the poeple of the fire nation. He also doesn't appears to be from the Water Nation. The earth nation has more diversity so my guess is he's from this one.
    I think the main purpose of eye color is to determine which nation the person is from. Of course there are some people who are different (such as Ty Lee or the swampbenders), but mostly, the eye color follows this pattern: Water - blue (are there any other eye colors? I don't remember) Earth - green or brown Fire - red Air - grey Or something like that.

    the people in the Fire Nation don't have red eye color

    Guru Pathik spends his days meditating in the sun. Has it ever occured he might be extremely tan?

    Yeah, that theory sucks. My next guess is that he's from the Southern Earth Kingdom.

    No, randomly. I was watching a fanvid just now, and I saw gray and green. There's probably blue too ... I remember seeing it somewhere.
