The only reason I think there is something there was because of the scene with her mother. The way she reacted to her mother's words (more so if the entire part was just in her head) and the fact that she started to cry after made me think there might have been regrette. I don't deny that she's just like her father (just less stable I believe) but her mother was part of her life and there coud have had some impact, none of which mattered in the end considering for the majority of her life, her father has been her pillar parent it seems. That and the fact that Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her honestly seemed to bother her greatly. |
I think the didn't understand why her mother loved her, because she couldn't understand that kind of honest bond.

It's like when you see a giant snake getting caught in a net and twisting until it's strangled itself to death. It's pitiful, but it's justice, and justice is neccesary for peace and freedom. |

It was actually NOT her fault because she never had the abaility to trust anyone because her brain misinterprits trust and fear, thusly the cause of her need for constant control. She's a product of her enviorment. Zuko on the other hand, after being banished had someone supportive and understanding (iroh) and was exposed to the outside world and being treated as a private citizen which gave him room for growth. |

zuko was exposed to life as a private citizen and azula wasn't. Also azula was always her father's favorite so the thought of speaking out against him would never even cross her mind because to her, he is a god.
I for one, did really feel bad for her.
Such a powerful and extraordinary character..
Just because the fact, that it was Ozai's fault that Azula turned out the crazy power-hungry-b*tch she is made me feel sorry for her.
And made me really want that Aang wouldn't have showed Ozai mercy.
After all.. it's all Ozais fault..

But they're decisions will be influenced by their previous lives.
Lets say that you're a kid, who's always been taught by their mom not to take candy from strangers. Would you take candy from a cloaked figure from an un-licenseplated van ? Ofcourse you wouldn't. You would run away.
Now lets say that you're a kid, who's never really gotten any attention from your parents. You don't see anything bad in that cloaked figure. You agree to take the candy..
Not the best example, but I tried atleast.
Point is - The way that we think is strongly influenced by the way we grow up.

but the thing is I don't even think she knew any better. She was raised with that one ideal, and she is her father's clone. she has no sense of right from wrong, she can't feel remourse and is scared by it.

I think that she should of been killed. Everything that happened to her was her fault so she's not getting my pity. |
