some people are posting really weird speculations. i know they're not necessarily accurate, and it's good to keep an open mind. -but there are certain things we must remember:

1-the gang is miles west of the fire nation coast. the season will probably never see them in the earth kingdom or water tribes again (unless after a very long time lapse, which this show does not really have.)
2-some people talk like every good guy gets off fine, and all the bad guys lose. that's not the way it always is. take these subtle clues: -lu ten is dead. people die. -katara and sokka's mom is dead. people die -all the air nomads except for aang are dead. people die. -jet is dead. people die -yuei is a spirit, not a living being, so physically, she is dead. people die.

so i'm warning you, don't be surprised if we lose a main character soon. it actually very likely that toph, iroh, mei, sokka, or others will die. 3-the term "boiling rock" most likely alludes to lava, and hints at the possibility of lavabending in this episode. prospectively, there are a few possible combinations of bending between different elements. sandbending is earthbending, but deals with sand movement in the air as well. mud is a physical mixture of earth and water, which means either an earthbender or waterbender should be able to manipulate it in some way, as we saw katara and toph do in The Drill. what i'm getting at is; who are we to decide that lavabending is not possible, even if it's a combo of earth and firebending. in fact, WE MAY HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT! when Avatar Kyoshi took aang's body to explain her history, we saw her crack the earth from surface to the magma below the earth's crust. she then phisically moved the newly made kyoshi island away from the mainland, possibly bending the lava to move the huge mass of earth. also, it may be necessary to combine it with firebending, because we notice that toph avoided the lava during the invasion, rather than bending earth over it. lava may simply be too hot for an earthbender to handle alone.

or, it could just mean a volcano or something like that.

also, there are other things that i personally am wondering-
*after their defeat at the north pole, should we assume that the fire nation navy just went home? i think not. i doubt katara and sokka will ever be able to return to the home they left.
*i wonder why no one has asked where iroh is? he escaped the fire nation prison, and zuko left without knowing where he was. also, because he is the dragon of the west, we can actually assume that apart from possibly azula, he is the greatest firebender in the world, just as toph is the greatest earthbender and katara is the greatest waterbender(having proved she was as strong as paku before she improved and stronger than hamma.
i just can't help but be sure that he will play a huge role in the final parts of this war.
