Davy Jones might be the one to ask for that one.

ANYWAY I had a dream about bloodbending last night. Wasn't a nightmare, but it sure was creepy!! I've got this thing for dreaming about the sorts of things that not only could you not do in the real world, but you've got a description of it and somehow want to experience yourself. Like, I've dreamed about flying on a broomstick, being an owl, being a bender (especially liked that one) and being able to make yourself intangible Danny Phantom-like. But being bloodbended unlike all those things is NOT fun. Although it is kinda cool.

    its a nightmare and daydreamer.

Yup, that episode is about me, I'm sure

Seriosuly, ever been flyingon an imaginary broom? FUN

You think that ship the waterbenders destroyed as the same one aang went to.

could be, though it wasn't so close to the village in the first ep because if you remember the ship semmed to have been frozen right in front of the village. The village may have been moved in order try to escape the raids or the freezing of the ship may actually have been ambushed far away from the village and it just looked like it was frozen in front of the village.

either way it's a 50-50 chance it is or isn't

    true
I think it was the thone they froze too.

What I was wondering was, do you really need the moon's power to use this sort of bending? Or does it just amplify it. For example, Hamma uses it on the rats while captured and also on the soldier. It might've been night, but I highly doubt the moon was full all those years she practiced.

It's probably just like regular Waterbending; it can be used all year, but is exceptionally powerful during the full moon.

Hamah explicitly says it can only be performed under the full moon when she first hints at the ability

then later when she explains how she came up with it she relates to how every month during the full moon she could feel its power. She then trained and practiced on rats for years before attempting it on the guard. The reason it took years was because she could only practice during the full moon.

also, when whe was controling the old man, the second the sun started to rise her control over him failed and he was able to escape. So even the slightest bit of sunlight cancels the ability. Finally, her only taking victims during the full moon would again indicate it only working during that time frame

I think your giving the ability more credit than it deserves, doing something like making wings out of blood would drain his own blood supply and kill him. and who knows if they can actually rip the blood out of a living body like they do with plants...

besides, its clearly a high-end master level ability that can also only be used with the power boost from the full moon.

One things that concerns me though *spoiler alert*

Hana said it herself that it took her years to master the technique, but here we see Katara performing it moments after learning of its very existence. At least when she became a master in between Waterbending Master and Seige of teh North we had the sastisfaction of knowing there was indeed a time skip between the episodes. In this case though she hears about the technique, and can instantly preform it on its very master. thats a little much I think.

well...Hana had to teach herself the technique I'm sure most Waterbenders have never been in a place so desperate or been as resourceful to even think of this....but Katara had someone there to show it to her

In MY opinion, the best episode ever in the new season (for me, anyway, and that's saying a lot considering there have been multiple "best episodes" for me so far LoL). If I were Katara, I would absolutely LOVE to learn Bloodbending. Think of the possibilities...LoL

well Waterbenders are only powerful enough to do this during the full moon....but other than that...Hana was able to waterbend in extremely resourceful ways...like pulling the water out of plants, flowers, and trees

I think the power Katara wants to unlearn is the power to control peoples bodies by waterbending the water in the body.
