it's hard to get an equal fight between waterbenders/earthbenders with other benders cause not everyone would agree on how much water or earth in the battlefield is fair.

yeah, katara's fight with zuko was definately unfair. snow everywhere, tired zuko, moon out, but you can't really judge them by the fights at the north pole. katara most likely got better at waterbending (she owned that swamp monster in "the swamp") and zuko at firebending.

There isnt really a power level in this show. Just skill levels.

when the firenation attacked that air temple with refugees in it Aang destroyed the tanks with grapple hooks and beat all of those people.

katara destroyed the tanks even before she became a master

Yes, I should have put Pakku on there.

I know Aang isn't the most powerful Waterbender.?? Aang's level is based on himself both normal for Airbending and in the Avatar state for Waterbending.

Okay, phew, that should stop all your bickering

Easy there, I only mentioned it twice and that last one was more of a friendly jab or whatever. I??put it there mostly just??for??that second sentence. But you'know, thanks for clearing??that other stuff up. Hope it didn't take too much out of ya. ??

Sorry if I flamed you a bit. I just hate it when people bicker instead of reasoning it out.

Actually, we know very little about how Aang rated among the Airbenders.?? True, among the student Airbenders Aang was a prodigy, but if you recall from the Storm, he hadn't completed his training before he ran off.?? For all we know, fully realized Airbenders can do far more than Aang has done so far (Airbend a whirlwind big enough to destroy the Northern Fleet, for instance).?? This is unlikely, but fully possible.????

In all probability, Aang is probably the Airbending equivalent of King Bumi, Master Paku, or Iroh.??

Azula and Toph would probably be on a similar level below these guys, and Katara and Zuko would be on a level below Azula and Toph.
    ----------------------------
Also, for all of those who say that Zuko is worse than Katara, consider all the advantages Katara had going for her when she came to fight Zuko.?? It would be like Zuko fighting Katara at midday shortly after Katara has finished that trek in "The Desert". No chance.
I put him up at level 1 excluding the other Airbender kids from the list, only rating him against other Airbenders we really know well, and thats Gyatso and the airbending lady- he seems to hold his own preety well against those tow, and since those 2 are dead, he goes into level 1. He's also level1 cuz of his Avatar state.

Well we all have our own way of "reasoning." ?? Still??I??truly didn't see any bickering. Well not as??bad as??some of the other guys. ????But anyway no its cool.

again, i don't think that the avatar state should count since it's not something he can control (can't go in or out of it by will). and you shouldn't rate aang only against other airbenders cause then it's not a universal power level list

and you never saw gyatso airbend so you can't really compare it to him, and he is definately not at the same level of the airbending avatar yet

I'm surprised at how many differing ideas there are about this.?? My little thread is becoming increasingly popular.

just so long as they don't discover "super avatar" mode, I'm fine with whatever power levels they have/

Actually, I just realized something.?? Toph was never acknowledged as a better earthbender than any of the other masters (Bumi, possibly Yu); she was only described as being a master.?? "Her performance at the Earth Rumble 6" tournament was only a show of how advanced she has become, nothing else, really.

acutually, her former Earthbending master Xin Fu said that she was the most powerful earthbender he had ever seen

No way. Bumi is hardcore. In the first Onimashu episode i think he called himself "the most powerful earthbender". Seeing as that he is over 100 years old and a King i imagine he has seen some really powerful benders, and he can still make that claim.

I have to say no to that, but she was better than Xin Fu and he's a real Earthbending Master, which should make Toph a master too

    Well, just my own thoughts.

1.) Sokka doesn't belong on this list, being as how he's not a bender.?? But let's be fair to his combat abilities--he's capable of deflecting multiple thrown knives, knows how to use multiple weapons (war club, boomerang, machete, and just a little training in fan), and has guts.

He's just also the butt of every joke in the universe.

2.) An odd thought regarding our crazy martial arts masters, particularly Bumi and Iroh: They grow greater by incorporating the philosophies of the other elements into themselves.?? The latter is obviously the best example of
this, with his discussion of the traits of the four elements.?? But Bumi showed how much he groks air early on: his entire lesson to Aang is to seek different perspectives and methods, which Toph names as a characteristic that can't reconcile itself with Earth's need to stand strong.?? And yet Bumi does, and so aside from Avatar-level benders, he's probably the greatest Earthbender out on the board.

yeah, she seems to be much better at waterbending since "the siege of the north" but we don't really know how much better zuko got so i dunno if it would be fair to him. I also think azula should move up, but i don't think she's as good as ozai. there needs to be another level
