    i tried watching naruto multiple times, and just couldnt get into it. english dubbing really turns me off, and i just did not like naruto as a character. i'm probably the only one who couldnt get into seeing has the whole world is obsessed w/ naruto.

    i have no doubt that aang would easily defeat naruto though. if aang cant defeat naruto, it's basically saying that naruto can beat anyone in avatar, and thats simply not true

    your not the only one man, I tried to like Naruto, I really did. I even watched some of the later episodes to avoid some of the english dubbing (believe it *cringe*)and to get into the more serious plotlines

    But I still just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. Sure some of the fights were cool, but often that was negated by haveing an entire episode of flashbacks breaking up the fighting. Even if that wasn't the case, if all I wanted was a cool fight I could watch DBZ (which I stopped liking after the Cell Saga)

    I honestly think Avatar is better.

    heh, you shouldn't of stopped watching dbz man, if you want COOL FIGHTS, just about every fight in the all the buu sagas was freaking amazing. just watch those

    I love both Naruto and Avatar. Pros and cons to each.
    One question, are we comparing Avatar characters to pre timeskip or post timeskip Naruto charcters? Cos I'm up to date with the manga and the abilities are way different.

    Aang VS Naruto
    -Tough call, but I say Naruto (post-timeskip) or a draw.
    I say Naruto b/c his new Rasengan seems stronger than any airbending Aang has. Aang does have the avatar state which could let him win, but don't forget Naruto has the nine-tailed fox.

    Sokka VS Shikamaru
    -Shikamaru. No way Sokka is getting past the Shadow possesion jutsu (unless he does something quick with his boomerang). They both can do strategy, but Shikamaru will likely have the upperhand there.

    Katara VS Sakura
    -If its pre-timeskip Sakura, then defeinitely Katara would win. Post timeskip Sakura would have a better chance.

    Zuko VS Sasuke
    -Tough match but Sasuke.

    Toph VS Neji
    -(That would be SO awesome). I'm inclined to say Toph, because she can prevent Neji getting at her vital points with rock-armor.

    Momo VS Pakkun
    -Cant call this one, haven't seen what Pakkun can do in battle yet (that dog makes me laugh).

    Mai VS TenTen
    -TenTen. Mai can't summon weapons from scrolls.

    Jet VS Zabuza
    -Zabuza. Jet wouldn't get through the mist.

    Haru VS Haku
    -Haku. Cant see Haru getting past the crystal ice mirrors...then again he could use earth shields to deflect the needles, but that just defense. Dont forget how fast Haku is.

    Ty lee VS Ino
    -Ty Lee. Ty Lee moves too fast for Mind Transfer Justu to work.

    Meng VS Hinata
    -The girl from the ep. with Aunt Wu? Dont insult Hinata like that.

    Suki VS Temari
    -Temari. I can't see Suki getting close enough to attack with Temari's wind attacks.

    Azula VS Itachi
    -Itachi. Azula wont get past the Mangekyo Sharingan. That would be sweet to watch.

    I forgot to add...what I like about Avatar is that it solves conflicts in shorter time and has no season-long fillers. Also no manga to catch up with. The element powers are more clearly defined and there's less long-winded dialouge.
    I think I'm more fond of the charcters in Naruto, however. Plus there's blood.

    I love them both!

    now season 2's over, im kinda more into naruto. but once season 3 starts, its back to avatar!!! (hopefully)

    For my choice (refering to the first post) I choose (of course) all the avatar characters. Why? Cause it's AVATAR!! Plus I never watched Naruto before. Yea, I'm bias, but what do you expect, posting this in the Avatar forum.

    Only Aang, Toph, Azula, Katara, or Zuko should even factor into this convo if you're going to have it. Each and every single character in Naruto uses all these crazy??jutsu(except Rock Lee, but he's friggin fast and can fight like nobodies business) no??nonbending character in Avatar would stand a chance cuz they're just like us normal humans, even Ty Lee would have a tough go of it cuz of the clone illusion thing everyone can do...

    I'm not talking about who could beat whom, I'm just stating which character I like best. And it's all avatar characters across the board.

    I used to like Avatar better than Naruto...but then I actually watched Naruto. Japanese dudes can simply make better stuff than Americans...

    Avatar is better than Naruto as a show, but if characters were to fight against those of the other show, then I'm afraid Avatar characters would lose.

    Avatar characters can easily and quickly manipulate the elements without tiring themselves, while Naruto characters require much energy (chakra) and hand sealing to do elemental jutsus. (And that's the only advantage for Avatar characters that I could think of.) But Naruto characters could easily beat Avatar characters because they do much more than elemental attacks: superior speed (ninjas move in a flash), special inherent abilities (sharingan, byakugan), specialized techniques (cloning, shadow binding, body control, mind transfer, animating dead), illussion jutsus, and summons.

    e.g.,
    Ten ten >>> Mai (weapons)
    Rock Lee or Neji >>> Ty Lee (melee combat)
    Sasuke >>> Azula (fire and lightning)
    Jiraiya >>> Iroh (fire)

    Aang would kill Naruto. But they have alot in common. I bet they would be good friends.
