I am a big fan of the series, and also somewhat of a nerd when it comes to facts. such as I notice that in episode 306 (The Avatar and the Firelord) it is stated that the Fire Nation capital is 100 miles from Roku's Island "Ruko's island was 100 miles away but I could still feel it rumbleing..." and using the official map of the Avatar World, I have determined that the Avatar World is probably no larger then the state of Washington (I live in WA so that why I used the state by-the-way). This could just be a mistake by the writers, such as many movies, TV series and books do have, but anyways the point of this forum is I was wondering what other fun facts and/or mistakes have others notice, such as does anyone know how long a year is in the Avatar World? Please feel free to use this forum to debate each other, and to post your own questions you may have about the series.

Yeah, that must've been an error, it had to be more than 100 miles away.

i didnt even think about that but yeah it doesnt make much sense. also ba sing se is huge! look at it and compare it to the fire nation.

also i think that the writers may have messed up with the measurements because they probably didnt take a lot of time to think that sort of stuff out.

How about the age problems with Sozin, Azulon, and Iron & Ozai- if u add up the dates of how old Azulon was and how long he rulled it means Sozin had a kid at age 60s ot 70s (sorry about not having exact dates, havent discussed this in while )

Or fact that both Roku and Sozin seemed to super-age as shown in FL and Ava

Roku and Sozin seemed to super age because it skipped ahead to the later part of their lives.

It seemed like that- BUT when u add up the dates Roku died at the age of 58 and he already had completely white hair and looked 70 or older, Sozin was even worse. Now i get this for normal ppl, but this is the Avatar (Kyoshi lived to 230!) and Sozin lived to over 100 and had a kid after Roku died!

you have to remember that the avatar world is a fictional world so there are bound to be ages and things that dont make sense. we've seen multiple people who grew to be atleast a century old. also how do you know kyoshi is 230? even if roku was 58 when he died you have to realize that the way he looked could have been because of the stress of his job. for a real life example look at Abraham Lincoln when he became president and when he died. there is a huge difference. now multiply that aging affect by 10. same sort of aging affect would go for sozin. and also as an answer to your first question sozin could have had azulon early in his life. the war is atleast a 100 years old.sozin started the war when he was about 59 or 60 (after roku's death). azulon could've been born when sozin was in his 30's or 40's. sozin could've died in his 90's r possibly 100's. leaving azulon with the throne. azulon would've been in his 60's or 70's when he took the throne. iroh was probably born when azulon was in his 30's and ozai in his late 40'or 50's (theres a decent gap between iroh and ozai).

idk thats how much i figured out but some parts are messed up

who says he had a kid after roku died? it could've been that roku just hadn't seensozin's family

this is what the creator of this thread probably did.

-using info from The Avatar and The Firelord he knew that from the fire nation capital to roku's island is about a 100 miles.

now measuring that out on an avatar map he used the same measurement to measure the rest of the map.

Oh but it is. Look on nick.com/avatar Remember 306 took place on Roku's home island, and 311 took place in the Fire Nation Capital.

Do they tell you what the scale of the Avatar map is? Because you do know there's always a key on maps to tell you how many miles it is to each inch.

To clarify things, for everyone that may be wondering how I determined the Avatar World hkulka2974 is correct on my method. I pretty much estimated, but I have to say that tomtitan is more accurate in his/her measuring than I was, so when I said "Avatar World is probably no larger then the state of Washington" that's probably not that accurate, since is probably bigger (length and width wise) but the point was more that if the quote from episode 306 (The Avatar and the Firelord) "Ruko's island was 100 miles away but I could still feel it rumbleing..." is correct then the Avatar World is really small... .. .

Maybe it's just a plot hole. I.e. An ACTUAL mistake... According to that map... no way the Avatar World is 550 miles in diameter. -_-'
