is the avatar the only person that can use multiple bending disciplines? i mean why is lava movable by fire benders instead of also by earth? and why is mud unmovavble by water benders? couldn't they just bend the water out?

i'd love to see an earth and fire bender...he could create lava to mold around his arms then instantly harden into movable stone make him a set of rock arms...tell me that wouldn't be tight as hell

do we have any proof yet that ang has even mastered water bending, or are we just assuming that katara has taught him?

We don't have any proof. I think that he's still learning, but went ahead to earthbending because there isn't much time left.

the thing is...even though Ang is supposed to be learning them all he still falls back on airbending...i guess that makes sense...waterbending is still new to him and he's pretty much sworn off fire for good...but maybe he'll use earthbending more with the newest member of the group

Note: "after" 10-15 chapters. Who knows what will happen? Aang might face the fire lord in ch. 16 and has to go through a stage in ch. 17 to find a way to defeat the fire lord. There could be multiple battles and armies to fight in order to defeat the fire nation in ch.18-20.

You know what I noticed today??? Nobody on Avatar ever mentions their last name.?? Do you think they just don't have them, or they just never mention them??? Probably the first one.

Malcolm in the Middle. The family's last name is never mentioned. It's kept a secret and I happen to know it.
