The TV.com SpongeBob Squarepants forum was home to the earliest members of The SpongeBob Community, who fled from it after multiple ban waves. Its peak activity years lasted from 2006 to fall 2009.
SpongeBob SquarePants guide
One of the most popular pages on TV.com is the SpongeBob SquarePants guide, practically always being somewhere on the top 100 shows list. It was once even ranked as the #4 most popular show guide on the site. It features a episode guide of the show (which is used by many and as a helpful resource for finding details about certain episodes), along with user reviews for each one. As of April 7, 2011, over 1,228 reviews were written for the show on TV.com. The last editor for the guide was TVTome_Shadow (preceded by Digger3000 and ChrisG0522).
SpongeBob SquarePants forum
The SpongeBob SquarePants forum at TV.com is also one of the most popular forums on the site, frequently appearing "Most Popular Boards" section on the main forum page. The forum is quite active compared to other forums and the users there tend to become friends with others very quickly, although there are occasionally conflicts. The users there have even created a SpongeBob Forum Committee in order to manage the board in a civilized manner and to resolve disputes, though it later fizzled out.
Death
Following a forum attack in August 2009 that left several notable users banned, and amongst other unpopular decisions the staff made, the board began to die out. This caused terminoob to create The SpongeBob Community on August 15th, 2009, as a refuge for banned users. The final nail in the coffin would come in summer 2010 when WhaleBlubber orchestrated an attack that banned most remaining active users. By September 2010, there were only a few users left the SpongeBoard board, such as Southparkfa, teenj12 and futuramarama; the first two eventually moving to SBC. In November 2010, tvguy announced on a blog it was finally time for everyone to abandon Tv.com. Some did not budge and stayed on the sinking ship. A few notable users who never made the jump to SBC included DC-Dude, ShrinkinViolet and Dumb_Dog_19.
Removal
In May 2016, Tv.com's staff announced they would be removing all of their forums, including the SpongeBob forums. Since the forum was a historic part of SBC, MDPP decided to create an archive for the forums, now maintained by JCM, found here.
Threads
The board had over 250 pages of threads. These seven pinned topics were some of the most active on the board by the end:
- **Best Episode Ever Contest** - A game where users vote off their least favorite episodes from each season until they find out which one is the best. The TV.com staff even wrote a featured article about this thread.
- **Worst Episode Ever Contest** - Similar to the Best Episode Ever Contest, only here, users vote off the favorite episodes until they find out the worst episode of the season.
- **Continuous 3 Word Spongebob game 5** - A game thread where each user adds on to a continuous story using only three words.
- **Nautical Nonsense-The Official SB OT Lounge Thread!** - A thread where the users can talk about anything they want. The discussions don't have to lead anywhere.
- **Spin-off Ideas (Episodes)** - A thread where users can post multiple episodes of their own fan-based SpongeBob spin-off series.
- **Spin-off Ideas (Episodes): Reviews** - A thread where users can rate and review some of the spin-offs posting in the above-mentioned thread.
- **The Official Q&A Thread** - A thread made specifically for user who want to ask questions about the show (i.e. "What episode did say...") rather than flooding the forums with instantly-resolved topics.
