Several years after the closure of [[SpongeCraft Classic]] in September 2019, then-newly-appointed Cashier [[HawkbitAlpha]] floated the idea of bringing a Minecraft experience back to SBC in November 2022. The project was confirmed to be in the works during the April 2023 rollout of [[Seahorse 15]], and later officially unveiled on July 3rd, 2023, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMTqxO1B1JA opening to players] the next day. In its initial iteration, SCF was based in [[The Frontierlands|the Frontierlands]], and saw players develop a network of several villages across the map.

In January 2024, SCF went offline due to Hawk no longer being able to afford paying for the server. Upon attempting to relaunch the server in February, it was discovered that the host had deleted the server and all of its files due to a month passing in the time since, rendering all previous progress on SCF permanently lost. This led to the decision to initiate a full "V2" reboot of SCF, featuring a new, more diverse map known as [[Outlandia]]. The newly-regenerated SCF relaunched in February 2024, coinciding with [[Februquarry]].

While originally launched as a vanilla survival server, since the reboot, SCF has been officially reformatted as a hybrid survival and creative server, with players being allowed to switch between the two game modes. It also features [[Spongecraftia]], the superflat world of SpongeCraft Classic, as a secondary map, through the use of the Multiverse plugin.
