I wouldn't say that SpongeBob is real dumb like Patrick. He's just really gullible, which makes it easy to fool him.

Pat. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy are senile, so they have a reason, but Pat's just dumb. He doesn't even know who his parents are or realize when people are calling for the Krusty Krab they are not trying to insult him.
