I made this topic because i read an article about how Pokemon and Spongebob were competing.

I think Spongebob is better. I watched some pokemon episodes, and it's really cheesy. I went to a pokemon forum a while back and all the guys acted like they were cool, hip, and in charge, dissing pokemon haters so much. But after watching some episodes, I concluded pokemon is horrible, dispite the fact i used to like it when i was small

I like Spongebob better. Pokemon is too kiddish for me, when i was young I liked it too but now its just boring. Spongebob has jokes for adults and kids but that doesn't mean Pokemon was never good. Its still sort of my guilty pleasure

I like Spongebob way better. I like Spongebob so much that I feel very crappy of even watching Pokemon in the first place, that's why I always laugh whenever my brother makes puns about Pokemon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Pokemon literally bored me to sleep.

Sweetness! Another one of these topics!

Anyway, Pokemon sucks. My cousin, however, likes it... A LOT... I don't understand why, though.

For me, a big fan of both shows, that's a tough call.

Pokemon, which I've loved since 1999 when it was in early morning syndication, is a great anime. It has a rich fantasy universe, appealing characters, quality animation, excellent English voice actors, and consistently amusing episodes. The theme songs are usually great (especially the 1st, 3rd, and 8th season ones) and I always make sure that I watch it on Saturday mornings! I own about 10-12 of the Pokemon DVD releases, including 2 box sets and a whole slough of single-discs.

Spongebob, a show that I hated at first, I came to love over the course of the year, is just a fun pure-comedy show. The animation and voice acting are good, and the episodes are overall pretty good. The quality dipped a bit in the third season (an increase of toilet humor, sadly), but has bounced back with style this season. The theme song is alright (The "movie version" -- opera style) is great. I like the characters of Spongebob (optimist), Sandy, Gary, and Squidward (to laugh at how his cynicism fails), and Pearl. But, Patrick is just an OK character. I do own the first 2 seasons and the 3rd is on my Christmas list.

They both have a 10/10 rating here from me on TV.com, but I would say Pokemon edges out for me--just barely, since I've been a fan so long and it is just a bit more overall enjoyable.

But, I look forward to new episodes of both shows with anticipation!

the only reason pokemon has so many seasons is because it was popular to toddlers-early elementary kids in japan for so long. Sorry to burst anyones bubble who likes pokemon in an advanced age.
Spongebob is for all ages, and i don't know why they don't even have 100 episodes aired. It has lots of adult jokes, puns, and reactions, as well as jokes for preteen to early teen viewers. Even little kids can watch it, though they probably don't understand anything the characters are saying.

Pokemon came first. It first came out in Japan, then they had to dub them and send them to other countries.

maybe the whole idea of spongebob is stupid, but so is the whole idea of pokemon. I mean, you catch creatures and store them in your balls? And the pokemon's cry sounds like their name? Yeah

Trust me, Spongebob is so much better than Pokemon. It maybe sounded like a stupid idea to have a Sponge live under the sea at first, but trust me once you see it it's actually good.
