    I was wondering that too. I mean, he's a crab yet his daughter's a whale... That must mean either his wife was a whale, or he adopted Pearl. Also, he never talks about his wife either. So, I'm going to say... maybe?

    Ya she probebly showed up on his doorstep when she was little. I'm going with maybe cause I'm not sure. I thought he could have had a wife at one point and she died like Mrs. Puff's or he just never got married who knows.
