i think it is because i dont know what it means and it doesnt sound so offensive

Nub leads to noob, noob leads to new, new leads to green, green leads to amateur and so on...Not necessarily a bad word but used in the right context and you might invoke someone to cry. lol.

I said it like once and kicked myself because it sounded so lame. Whenever people say it, it's just pathetic. Except when it's not being used as a serious insult, like on the show.
