He learned the truth about his brother Itachi, that he was actually a pacifist, that he killed everyone in the Uchiha because the Elders of the village told him since the Uchiha were planning to take over the village because of the treatment they had from the Senjyu, who originally said that they were going to be equals but after many years, the Senjyu were still the top politicians, and even made sure that a Uchiha would never be Hokage, and since the take over attempt would create caos on the Nation Of Fire, Itachi decided to kill them in order to avoid a possible Ninja War 4, he killed his parents, friends, lover (may or may not be true the lover part, could be a mistranslation, will be known for sure in a week) and everyone else, except his brother, he couldnt do it, so he begged the SanDaime to let Sasuke live and to never tell him the truth about that night, becase he knew that Sasuke had the potential to re-create the clan and make it a glorious, powerful and peaceful clan.
During the final fight, Itachi was able to eliminate Orochimaru, freeing sasuke from the curse seal [not that it really mattered actually] and giving him the Mangekyo too, probably Perfect since he also gave Sasuke his eye technic, Amaretsu, now Itachi's dream is fufilled, Sasuke has inner peace, [altough, Itachi thought it would happen because of Sasuke thinking he killed him, but Madara told him the truth about Itachi, still, Sasuke seems to be happy] he is now a hero, and has the power to protect those he loves.

Yeah, guys, if you don't like Naruto it's ok, i just wish you could check the manga [naruto is not nearly as annoying there and they don't take so long explaining techniques] sometime, but if you don't want to it's ok, still don't flame Naruto, i admit it's over rated, but Kishimoto made a great story.
