But that's what happens when u take a series thats over 20 hours (rough guess of top head) and cut it down to 6 hours; 3 x 2 hr movies . The story has to be reworked (with alot dropped) in order to make sense and be a good movie (u should not require prior knowledge of Avatar). A good example of this is Tom Buggalo (Bumbalo, Bimbaloo or something lol) from first book of LOtR, or how the battle of Midas city (one with dead tree)d and Frodo getting poisoned, was moved from the 2nd book to the 3rd book (though i dont think any major moving like that is necessary in Avatar).

Okay first up, sorry if i came across are being obnoxious Water (not my intent) i was typing off top my head after coming home from long day at work

I've got to disagree with you there. Prehaps i used wrong wording. To explain: *** A series is a medium to tell a story, just like a movie or book. Each one allows a story to be told in a different way, though there are similarities between them eg. A book or Series can explore characters to a greater extent than a film *** A "story" is what is being told, the plot itself. THe story, or rather over arching plot, of Avatar is that of a boy who discovers he is the avatar and his people are gone because of a war he missed whilst frozen in Ice. He makes a new family of people he meets on his journey to become the Avatar and bring balance, falling in 'love' with one of them (thats just me in reality going BS but u accept these things ) and maturing as a person. Also the second intertwined, and important story, is that of a Banished prince, he's only crime being that he cared about his people, attempts to regain his honour by capturing Avatar and in the process learns about accepting himself, and coming to understand more about the evils (because he is shown with doubt at start S1 with Zhao) of the war his father is continuing and the other people of the world.

thank you. but the plot is the story which is in whole the series. I think i am arguing for no reason, so i will stop.

LOL I know it took me a while to get used to the new look. But you can still edit and delete posts: look next to the quote button, there something that says "click on action below" and it should have choices including editing and deleting a post.

Personally I wouldn't care either way. But, looking at the movie I now have some serious doubts.....

    1. The cast is the first problem the characters are the wrong races. The Water Tribe and the Air Nomads are white while the Earth Kingdom is a East Asian(and a mix of other races) while the Fire Nation is Indian.

    2. They are going to have to cut out a lot of information and character development to make each book into a movie.

    3. Shyamalan(the director) sounds like a fan, but it sounds like he wants to create his own version of the story instead of sticking with the source material.

    4. Why are they making a movie this early? The series just ended last year. I surprised their doing the movie this earlier especially with the way Nick has been treating Avatar it just looks like they want to rehash the series for quick cash.

    money grabbing!
I wouldn't mind (that is if its good movie ) except like u said Nick has treated Avatar, especially here in Australia, TERRIBLY!!! all u get here is sponge Bob 20 hours a day, plus they only JUST realsed complete Season 1! Now correct me if im wrong but don't they have commentary in USA, because our copies only have the episodes; the 2nd time, with BSG DVDs, thats happened and it REALLY PIZSES me off

I think they should have just made Sozin's Comet a theatrically released movie. I mean, it was long enough and the episodes did fit together as though they were a single movie.

I would have liked them to have had the first few eps of S3 showing Aangs spirit adventure where he met and talked to previous 4 Avatars b4 returning to norm world. ALso the prequel comic of Zuko and Mai in Ba SIng Sei and Zuko getting blackmailed to come back, Katara and Co getting Fire Nation ships and Earth king leaving.

Change the horrible start to Maizu and then also add the stories in up coming comic to S3, with Toph's own adventure with Zuko

THEN u could have had Sozin's comet as a straight to tv movie/mini series (pos' with Book 4 Air in title). I dont think u could release it Theatrically and get enough viewers. Its fantastic series but it doesnt have the public eye like the Simpsons (which has been dead to me for yrs)

I think a better zuko/toph trip would have been taking her home to see her family and confronting them and then leaving. Because the unknown story of sokka's pet bird hawky didnt go anywhere

You know what would be funny? If Toph's parents loved Zuko but hated Aang.

THATS A GREAT IDEA WATER78 I didnt think of that at all. Each Trip with ZUko dealt with an issue which had been plaguing them; Sokka with his Father and Suki, Katara her mother, and Aang with Fire bending. Zuko would have been perfect for helping Toph with parents and i hated that the creators basically shut it down in the finale ("yeah Toph we dont have time, it was more important we had Aang in School, Daydreaming and Katara as spirit"). And Gilvatar LOL thats how i would see it also .
